J SPACEMAN (Spiritualized) and MATTHEW SHIPP, on electric harmonium and Celeste, return to Southbank Centre on Monday 20 April (Queen Elizabeth Hall) with a collaboration first outed for Patti Smith's Meltdown festival in June 2005. Their subsequent studio corollary has been released on the Spring Heel Jacks / Treader label in October 2008. Magic golden voice drone followed by celestial ecstasy to be expected.
This does look good doesn't it

I hope someone is able to record this.
It's nice to be liked,
But it's better by far to get paid.

Happy Valentines everyone and to Jason if you're reading (unlikely)!
I've been trying to come up with something clever to say about last night...but I can't. I'll just keep it short.
It was great! The set started with Jason and Shipp 'duo', playing in a similar style to the QEH gig. Very droney and relentless. Loved it! It becomes very meditative after a while and I end up feeling 'transported' elsewhere. Like I said, relentless and intense. Loads of energy and tension in it.
After this part of the set Coxon and Noble joined in. The style and flavour changed to the other extreme and the music and rhythms kept changing and swapping rapidly. I hesitate to call it free jazz, because so many parts didn't sound jazzy to me- there was so much different stuff in there I find it hard to describe. Suffice to say, it was mind blowing!
All in all, a wonderful night!
