Missing the bleeding obvious

Post by Sim »

So tonight I was sitting having dinner with my 8 yr old son and he was looking at the poster on my wall from the Radio City Music Hall LAG show. He asked me what the image on it was. So I told him it was what sound looks like if you view it in software like GarageBand. Then he looked at it again and said 'No it's not, it's New York, you can see the Statue of Liberty'.

I can't believe I missed this. I've seen it almost every day for the last 3 years but now it's so obvious. Please don't tell me I'm the only one....

Good God, so it is - the skyline reflected in the water!

Don't worry Sim, you're not the only one

Ha, another one here. It's been on my wall for years, always thought it was a soundwave forming a syringe shape.

Thanks mc & ben, gives me comfort to know I'm not the only one. Now I'm seeing the syringe too!

You can add me to that list though I always saw the syringe. Never the NYC skyline.

That's hilarious! I thought you all had seen it. Well done to the designer that made it.

Wow - so it is...

I too was sucked into the drug-myth/soundwave idea of the imagery...

It's suddenly a much more attractive and well executed image. Yes, kudos to the designer.

Here it is btw: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_6JXXJiyF3Fs/T ... w-york.jpg

Me too. I alway assumed that it's the waveform of de opening seconds of the album.
But now I'm wondering what the sound is that belongs to this waveform shaped like NYC....

... that's fucking genius! The first blip in the waveform is the Statue of Liberty!

I look at this image nearly every day, as it appears on a really cool magnet attached to our fridge, and I never noticed that before...

There are more magnets if anyone is interested. Beautiful 2 inch by 3 inch image of the poster.
PM me if interested. They are $5.

Nice topic, but i moved it too Art/Design/... because here it fits better. And the poster is great.

It is astonishing how much little children see. They are much more open-minded than we are. I love it when my little daughter shows me things i would never recognized.

Wow, never noticed that either  It always appeared as a soundwave / syringe to me too.

Very clever and cool.
