My wife and went to a lecture/book launch by one of my favorite comic artists/journalists - Joe Sacco. His new book, "The Great War" is a 24ft. illustrated panorama depicting the first day of the Battle of the Somme and it is incredible! Taking inspiration from the Bayeux Tapestry it is a remarkable visionary piece of narrative storytelling. At the end, we got to meet Sacco himself and he signed my copy of the book.

Yes, it really is remarkable. He was very articulate, humble and just like the film...extremely personable.

It is an amazing piece of work. Not sure if you are familiar with some of his other books but they are well worth investigation. This is the first one that uses no words to tell the story.
