Illustrators

Hi folks, im designing a book for ferrari at the moment and we're hopefully going to commission this guy.

http://www.debutart.com/artist/raymond-biesinger

I think his work is fantastic! I spoke to him last night and I had the thought that he'd developed his own typeface, as similar type styles crop up in some of his pieces. but no he hand does text every single time by scanning in old plastic letters he found in a shop and then messing around with contrast and stuff in photoshop. He also uses some type he found in an old book about the weathermen

so every time he uses text its different. Not like the 'distressed' fonts you see on the web. I liken it to being like a performance piece. I love it when people work in interesting ways and develop work in this way, from just trying stuff out. Exciting stuff!

Has anyone else come across illustrators that they really like?

'raging and weeping are left on the early road
now each in his holy hill
the glittering and hurting days are alomst done
then let us compare mythologies
i have learned my elaborate lie
of soaring crosses and poisened thorns'

I like his style very much but it's very Saul Bass like. Would be great for those jet set years
but really difficult to say have a Ferrari Scuderia Spider 16M and his work together.

I've always been a sucker for Sid Meades super clean lines.
