All Tomorrows Parties - Film - on TV

Post by rameses »

For UK dwellers only I think...

All Tomorrow's Parties is on Film 4 at 01:00 Saturday 9th October ( and also on F4+1 ).

More info on the film itself here
It's nice to be liked,
But it's better by far to get paid.

Strangely woke up to this after falling asleep to the subtitle version of Let The Right One In.

I watched about the last 50mins of it compelled by it's goddamn awful-ness.
The word that continually popped into my head was "Really?".
It was extremely uncomfortable viewing watching peoples attempts and reactions too making something out of something that wasn't there.
Inconcise, directionless and missing the point which I can only assume was the point.
Bizarre.
Not sure it merited utterance let alone a film.

Bit harsh that, Guessed. I quite liked it.
Directionless, yes, and rather rambling. i do think it should have more of the actual music in it but I guess they wanted to instead show the punters and the general atmosphere etc

I've got it on DVD - it seems a bit more like a home-movie than a documentary (although I don't think it's ever claimed to be a documentary), so I think it makes more sense to people who have actually been to the festival.

It's almost like a scrap book of festival moments. I can see why people don't like it, but I quite enjoyed it.

All Tomorrow's Parties present "From Ghosts", a film by Vincent Moon, volume three of six about ATP NY which was held at Kutsher's Hotel and Country Club in Monticello, New York.

“You're not Dostoevsky,' said the citizeness

'Well, who knows, who knows,' he replied.

'Dostoevsky's dead,' said the citizeness, but somehow not very confidently.

'I protest!' Behemoth exclaimed hotly. 'Dostoevsky is immortal!”

yeah, saw this film in the cinema at End of an Era- it's okay. I'm not the hugest fan of this kind of arty film where it's just raw footage montaged together (prefer some kind of narrative, even in a documentary!) but it did give a kind of flavour of ATP I guess.
same problem with the ATP movie. like mkb said, it was more like a home movie.
