Spectrum - 2011 US Tour

It's fairly unlikely you'd have made it here without ever having heard of Jason's previous incarnation. So here you go, talk away...

Spectrum - 2011 US Tour

Post by TheWarmth »

I just noticed that Spectrum are playing Bottom Lounge in Chicago on April 20th. I'm going to have to grill Sonic about the new album again. Hope they play some new material.

Nice that they're going to be playing stuff off Spectrum, Soul Kiss and Highs Lows.. 8)

Anyone know what he was up to with Moon Duo? Production/Mixing duties or playing on their new album perhaps?

Great show last night in Philly. Asteroid #4 were great and Pete and gang played a great set too. I always love seeing shows in this small venue...stood right up front with plenty of room to breathe. Chatted with Pete for a second and got a nice photo with him...a real class act.

Last year in Kentucky Sonic's guitar was having issues resulting in Sonic + Wooden Shjips rendering the most pleasant, extended drone fest version of I Believe It

I'm so pissed I just realized they were going on tour after the Philly date passed. I probably wouldn't have been able to get into the show considering I'm underage but I could have at least given it a shot.

Last night's SD show was fantastic. They played a very long set with a few surprises and even a new "jam." Guto is still playing with them. Sonic seemed chipper and obviously was in a good mood. It's a great thing to see.

The openers, The Black Ryder were incredible! Very Brian-Jonestown-fronted-by-Hope-Sandoval-ish. They are right up this forum's alley. Highly recommended.

Heading home from APF4 completely drained and incredibly satisfied 8) It all seems a blur and highlights are far too many (Lumerians, Cult of Dom Keller, White Hills, Black Ryder, Black Angels, Night Beats, Pete International Airport, Omar Rodriguez, Spectrum). My brain is mush. Here's Pete on Saturday night . . . more after the come down and flight home . . .

2 new jammys.. meaning off of the new Spectrum record??

that psych fest lineup is really good isnt it!
what was Omar Rodriguez like.. i like the Mars Volta a lot but his solo stuff can be a bit jazz-wank

Wow, great to see him adding a few new tracks to the setlist. I think I'd wet myself if I heard Angel or Lord I don't Even Know my name live...if he can do those live then anything from Highs, Lows and Heavenly Blows could be added!

Great interview.

Dispiriting about prospects of new lp - clearly feels there's little appetite for it...

I'd happily pay 100 notes for a new Spectrum lp.

Thanks for the link Minky, this is a great interview indeed! I didn't know Pete used to live in Switzerland.

Too bad Spectrum didn't show up in Geneva last December

If he´d record one spectrum song every time he collaborated with someone else an album would be done in no time!

I´ve been waiting almost 14 years now.. (sorry but I gotta make one post a year about it..)
