RSD 2013

It's fairly unlikely you'd have made it here without ever having heard of Jason's previous incarnation. So here you go, talk away...

Fire are really pounding their licence to release Spacemen stuff aren't they? This is at least the 3rd time they've issued these albums.

I was going to post about these yesterday after seeing them in the "coming soon/pre-orders" page on the website for my local record store:-

Sound of Confusion
http://www.resident-music.com/productde ... t_id=10112

Perfect Prescription
http://www.resident-music.com/productde ... t_id=10109

Performance
http://www.resident-music.com/productde ... t_id=10110

Didn't realise these were RSD releeases. It has a release date of 11th March on here but I don't think RSD is until the 20th April? :? Don't know if I can justify forking out £60 for these, especially as its only Performance that I don't have an original copy of. Anyway, 2000 doesn't seem that limited now after the 100 coloured vinyl copies of those recent Spanish releases of Soul Kiss and Sonic Boom.

Neither of the participating independent shops in Leeds have these in their RSD listings, anybody know if common sense has prevailed and they have been pulled :?:

I don't think Mono in Glasgow has them listed either...

Nor at Resident in Brighton (though to be honest, if there not selling them tomorrow, at least it prevents me having the dilemma of whether to purchase them or not  ).

got home from Oxford where the offending reissues mentioned above were present - well, Performance and Sound of Confusion were spotted. Not sure if they were actually part of RSD.

Came home with a copy of 13th Floor Elevators Wait for My Love /May the Circle... 7", remastered by Sonic Boom. Turns out this is a RSD 2011 release and mighty fine it is too.
Didn't recognise the name of the lead track but it appears to be Til Then from Bull of The Woods - which, in a curve ball move is actually my favourite 13th Floor Elevators lp. Certainly the one i play most often.

Only other comment on RSD is that the repress of Echo and the Bunnymen's Crocodiles has atrocious artwork. The colours of the original trip scene washed into one matt wholly fuzzshlick horribleness. The woods do not look like that. In any light. Not a difficult lp to find is great full colour condition for 99p.

Found Performance in my local store today. Very high price tag ($32 USD). Their distributor was only carrying this colored reissue. Anyone gotten their hands on the others?

Wish the master tapes for PP would turn up. If ever there was a classic album which would benefit from a remaster it's that one.

...I'd say Sound of Confusion needs it more. But you're close!

 Perfect Prescription needs it more because it's a better album.

A completely new mix wouldn't hurt Sound of Confusion...

I lied. I bit on SOC. Had a rather large credit slip from my local record shop. Got that and XTRMNTR ona Music On Vinyl reissue. XTRMNTR Sounds excellent. There is a lot going on in this record. Its on right now. New one isn't really close to this imho.
