Walkin' With Jesus (Rare Vinyl Question)

It's fairly unlikely you'd have made it here without ever having heard of Jason's previous incarnation. So here you go, talk away...

Walkin' With Jesus (Rare Vinyl Question)

Post by jinspace »

I've got Walkin' With Jesus (GLAEP 105) signed by all 4 original members.

What do you think it's worth? I nearly sold this a few days ago, but I can't let it go.

I have checked, nothing conclusive (Records are a lot higher priced these days)

I have already had an offer of $350 from an American friend of mine.

I'm in two minds, I was going to sell, to fund a Pizza Oven

Some don't attach much value to autographs, especially if they can't be authenticated beyond doubt.

Some even prefer their sleeves 'unmolested' as it were.

Personally, I would not pay more for an autographed record. I know I'm not typical in that regard. Any autographs I have, I got on my own in person.

The highest price this has achieved on Discogs was £40.06 or roughly $50. That basically values the signatures at $300  . I've never sold a record in my life, but if somebody offered me 7 times the market value of one of my records, I might well think about it, autographs or no autographs. Given that Pete and Jason are very, very generous and basically sign everything put in front of them, the rarer signatures are those of Pete Bain and Rosco (or whoever else was playing bass and drums at the time) which can't have much value really. If you really want to commoditise art then not taking the $350 seems like a mistake to me.

FWIW, it is often quite hard to find a copy of some of the rarer EAR or Spectrum releases that Pete hasn't signed  .

Pete Bain & Rosco are on there.

I think I'm going to sell again, the Pizza oven is a must have, plus I have their autographs on other stuff to be fair. I have all the original albums to listen to, I'm not a collector.

Yeah, I've got an EAR record signed by Pete, haha.

I've been after the Medication 12" where Jason customized each one, that's my own personal holy grail.

Those are exactly my words - never pay an extra cent for something that is already signed. It's not about a paranoia, but i also think that releases owned by me are more related to me when i got the artist signed it for me in front of me. "Joke" around the world is anyway this that SP3 or Spectrum releases without Sonic's autographs are more rarer. When i met Sonic for the first time i was worried like hell, that how he is going to sign my stuff. It was in Stockholm so many years ago that i don't even remember it right now (did i record the gig? hmmm...) But... he had a magic marker with him, so again, like we all know, no obstacles for signing stuff. He even murmured that "these are old..."

Depends on the quality of the signature and providence for me. Were they signed at the same time back in the day, sleeve and record condition etc. I wouldn't pay that much for it based on what i see, granted s3 aren't even my top five bands
