the jesus riff

It's fairly unlikely you'd have made it here without ever having heard of Jason's previous incarnation. So here you go, talk away...

the jesus riff

i wonder if the spacemen copped the "walking with jesus" riff from this song:

it's on a nuggets comp, so they had to have heard it..

I have never heard this, fantastic song.

Pete Kember has always been entirely honest about where or who he has borrowed riffs or lyrics from but I don’t remember him ever mentioning this song, could be a coincidence.

Whatever, I’m going to download this.

Good find!

the song "i'm so glad" is pretty killer as well.

I believe WWJ was mostly a Jason comp so it's certainly understandable Pete never mentioning it. Uncanny similarity though, nice find! :D

Yeah the riff and organ are so similar that it seems like it must be linked with WWJ, consciously or unconsciously on J's part.

Yes, certainly sounds familiar.

On the subject not sure if people have discussed this one before but check out "lonely weekend" by the remains, and see if it reminds you of anything..... from Monday morning to Friday night....... from Friday night to Sunday morn.....!

Incidentally of course I Believe It borrows the chords from WWJ as well, so everything is connected as they say.....

That's why I love the Spacemen- they may have borrowed from other songs but they always make it their own, and the songs they borrow from are always stellar.......

For the aged 40+ board members this one maybe…

The Vibes were a psych/garage band who were around 85/86 and eventually became Terminal Cheesecake. I had an EP called the Inner Wardrobes of your mind which had a fantastic version of the Outcasts’ I’m in Pittsburgh and it’s raining (and if anyone can point me in the direction of a download of the Outcasts version I would be really grateful)

I remember when I first heard 2.35 I thought the riff was similar to this old Vibes song which of course was probably borrowed from somewhere else. God love the French for putting them on the telly: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0l4uVYu ... re=related

BTW, did anyone here ever go to the Klub Foot nights at the Clarendon Hotel in Hammersmith. On the back cover of the first Stomping at the Klub Foot album you can see half my face!
