I had a dream last night that Slowdive booked a proper full UK tour.. was gutted when I woke up :(

the info that they were just doing a few festivals was pretty much on the money wasn't it?
I guess they are using as an excuse to have some holidays in some nice places :)

Would be surprised if there wasn't another London date at the Forum or something once this one is out of the way.

Sonic Cathedral are doing a 10 years celebration with 'special guests' and Rachel just tweeted a pic of the poster for it... could it be?

Saw them last night at Sonic Cathedral with Mark Gardener, Ulrich Schnauss and Andy Wetherall. They were really good. "Avalyn" was the only disappointment as it used to have a brilliant end section live which they dropped. They played some stuff they didn't really do back then too, "Crazy For You" and "Golden Hair". The whole gig is on youtube in reasonable quality but doesn't do ti justice. Here's a couple of tracks

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibVqQHmt7z0

Mark's new stuff was good, too. He's been making an album with Robin Guthrie which going by last night would be worth looking out for.

Wetherall looks like Gandalf the Grey or Alan Moore these days!

That would be a shame. If they do the new album like they've kept saying, surely there will be a future tour also.

There has been a lot of talk in interviews with various band members about a new album. I wouldn't be surprised if they started recording in early 2015.

London Forum, 19 and 20 December. I would normally keep waiting for the full UK tour but after the rumours mentioned think I might just bite the bullet and get a hotel booked..

I saw Wilco at that venue a few years back.. it's decent size (big but not too big) but have to say the sound wasn't great.

Wow! I've only ever seen them in tiny little places. They sound absolutely immense in that video. The version of Syd's "Golden Hair" is phenomenal, Rachel absolutely nails the vocal, it's beautiful. I had my eyes closed and was buzzing watching it.

I'll reiterate my previous comments: They absolutely destroyed it at Pitchfork. I was overwhelmed. If they can capture that high-powered energy on a new album, we are in for a big treat. I can't wait to see them again next month.

nice interview with Slowdive here. it looks like they are all very keen to press ahead with a new album, but just as mindful to pull the plug if it's not working.

I like the sound of the extra songs they will be playing at the Forum, now they have longer than just a festival slot. more Just For a Day stuff will be just the ticket.

Just got back from seeing them twice in the unbelievably perfect Ace Theatre venue in LA and I must say I was completely blown away. The band was flawless and put on an incredible show. Great visuals too. Low was great on Saturday too.

I know I'm just preaching to the choir, but all of you should not hesitate if you have the opportunity and funds to see them. Low closed their set with two new songs which were dedicated to Slowdive because they want to hear new material from Slowdive. The response was overwhelming. Let's hope they do follow through. I don't want another shitty Neil Halstead solo album!

I really like the new song. it's nothing new from them really, but there are some subtle new elements that add to their signature sound. the production is top notch for one thing. yes, drums sounding good!.. and very swooshy and spacerocky!

They played a medium sized venue in Chicago 2 years ago and it was fantastic. I highly doubt they're going to move on to massive venues here. Don't stress it.

Really like the new song. It's got enough of their "classic" sound to still sound like them, bit it's different enough to still be relevant and more than just a nostalgia trip. It's quite poppy, too. Really looking forward to the album.

isn't it a bit strange how they seem adverse to doing a proper UK tour? it's almost like they are making a point of not doing one. if they weren't into touring in general, they wouldn't be traipsing around the states. but in Blighty it's basically been festivals and a couple of London dates.

is there definitely an album on the way? because the blurb just seems to say this song was "one of some they were working on" rather than actually being part of a new album

it's tricky though isn't it. everyone's had years living with those other songs, building up memories with them etc. For a new song to come out and immediately live up to that is a challenge.

it's certainly far better than many other comeback efforts (Stone Roses spring to mind- what a piece of doggerel that was)
