I'm not sure if I prefer them or not, but it's cool to hear the little differences. J's little spoken "Huh?" at the beginning of Hey Jane cracks me up.

Re: Radio Spiritualized
One of my favorite topics, since I'm always interested in the stuff Jason's listening to. On the most recent date, I clocked a few tunes over the PA that were clearly picked by the man himself: T. Rex's "Spaceball Ricochet" (I've never heard him talk about T. Rex, but he does sport a T Rex...

Yeah, it's been out there for a few days at least. I didn't want to be the one to point that out, but I hope/assume we're all doing our part here to keep Jason's life financially viable. Fantastic record. People who weren't thrilled by "Crazy" will be thrilled to note that it's an outlier,...

Actually--not to be a total optimist here, but doesn't that quote rather make it sound like he's got ONE record "ready to go" and *another record* (or much of one) partially written? "I feel like I've written quite a lot of stuff in the meantime seems to suggest the latter, so maybe t...

I saw this elsewhere, and--one assumes perhaps it's the publishing company for songs on a new record? Someone was saying on Facebook ("someone" being a person in a position to know; I think maybe the fellow who runs Polytechnic Youth records) that a new Spiz record was not far away. But I ...

Isn’t any show worth it’s own thread, if someone feels like creating one? Anyone here familiar with Loudon Wainwright III (Rufus'dad). I think The Lonely Rock 'n roller in Let's Dance is a nod to his song Motel Blues, which opens with "In this town the television shuts off at two; What can a lonely rock 'n roller do". I made the same assumption. Given that the ...

I'd never even noticed this lyric before (which, you'd think after thirty years of listening, I would've), but the second half seems clearer to me than the first. "Without sure ain't within" meaning (I think) that the external world of 'objective' reality ("without") and the inte...

I wish! Apparently a record shop has opened in Inverurie that carried RSD stock but no way could I get there on Saturday. Anyway I only wanted 'Mantra for A State Of Mind' - by midday Saturday eBay had loads of copies, all going for £25 all in, at this point that's way too much for a 2 track record...

Second, I have that problem with "Cop Shoot Cop" too, unfortunately. It's glitchy from end-to-end.

Thanks so much.

What's the playlist? I agree, A&E sounds better to me in light of this record. I didn't really enjoy it when it came out, and still feel it tapers off pretty sharply at the end. It and AG still strike me was the weakest records in the Spiritualized catalog, whereas this one...well, I hate to use...

Ah! Love it. I figured it was likely to be "Revolution," somehow. (What else was Costello going to cover? "Walkin With Jesus?") Funny. There's something sweet about Sonic appreciating that. I wouldn't imagine the S3 boys were big Costello fans. It's nice to think of a minor bit o...

Right, so here's a weird one. In this '89 interview, asked what aspects of the band's legacy he's proud of, Sonic says "all of it," then remarks upon writing songs covered by Mudhoney ("Revolution," obviously) and....Elvis Costello? I assume I'm hearing him correctly, and I also ...

Pretty sure this is not just the reissue of the year, but one of the best ever. I've been an Elevators fan for 20 years, have loved Easter Everywhere since I first discovered it...yet I feel as if I'm hearing this record (now clearly one of the greatest of the sixties) for the first time.

Up is fantastic. I like all three Perfect Disaster records I own (Asylum Road contains "TV Girl (On Fire)", a cover of which exists on the deluxe Playing With Fire), but Up is easily the best. "B52" is the jam. The Oedipussy record--Phil Parfitt's subsequent band--is also very fi...

Just stumbled across a clip on the fat possum records website of Spz covering Jr. Kimbrough's "Sad Days and Lonely Nights" from a forthcoming tribute record.
Not bad. Kinda interesting to hear the band assay a more-or-less straight blues.
