Re: BBC 6Music gig on 15th March. Maida Vale studios

The ticket says admission on site is 11 am, studio doors open at 11.45, live broadcast at 12. The number to call for any queries is 0370 901 1227. You'd definitely better phone in advance as the T&Cs on the ticket say that each one has an individual bar-code that needs to be validated on arrival...

BBC 6Music gig on 15th March. Maida Vale studios

Yippee! I've managed to get a pair of tickets for this.
Apparently the show will be video-streamed live on the 6music website and highlights will be on the red button digital TV.
Really looking forward to it, though the midday start will be a wee bit strange.
Anyone else here coming?

Re: Royal Albert Hall, October 11th, 2011.

Just checked the dates. The original Albert Hall gig was the 10th October 1998. This one's on the 11th. The Roundhouse gig was the 16th. The last Spz gig I attended was the Oxford Academy on 12th in 2008. It looks like if you're a fan of the band and live in the South East UK, keep the second week o...

Re: RAH LAG Reviews

Sadly I have been unable to make any of these shows (hey if anyone's got a single ticket they're giving away ...) but am really enjoying hearing about it. Just thought I'd direct you to the NME piece about it here http://www.nme.com/blog/index.php?blog=10&p=7327. It's not so much a review of the...

Re: daily star

I reckon this kind of thing is made up by staff at the Daily Star. If you look at the other texts sent-in to this kind of column you have to wonder what sort of person would actually think "Hmm I must send my thoughts on my girlfriends hair to a national newspaper". Surely nobody?!? Perhap...

Re: Genuinely MASSIVE bands that actually made decent music.

The White Stripes - Surely they're big enough. Okay so most of their post-Elephant output isn't the best, but most of the earlier stuff is fantastic. And what about the Arctic Monkeys - they're a stadium filling band here in the UK with number one singles and albums, Brit awards, tabloid exposure etc.

For those who've never read Steven Wells, here's one of his greatest gig reviews ever. The fact that it's about Spiritualized is the icing on the cake. RIP The drugs work. They work like dogs. The hack has fallen in love, seen the future of rock and touched the face of God. Again. Please be prepared...

For me it's gotta be The Pogues 'Transmetropolitan'.

Always makes me want to sink a bottle of whisky then start a riot. What more could you ask?!?!

Hot Deals

Have just been browsing for bargains on the Hot Deals UK site and noticed that somebody has recommended Songs in A&E for £3.49 at CDWow. There's a thread attached with various comments including some guy who sounds interested because he's never heard of Spz but thinks they sound like a Christia...

Re: Primal Scream - Hammersmith Odeon (last night)

Yeah - I saw them on Tuesday at the Reading Hexagon and they were fantastic. I haven't really listened to much of their stuff in years so wasn't expecting it to be great but was proved wrong. Good setlist, lightshow, performance and the sound was nice and loud! My ears were ringing when I got home. ...

Re: worst song?

Having heard such great things about the Portsmouth Pyramids version of Let It Flow does anyone know where I can download a copy? Have had a look on Tuftys fabulous site but no sign of it there. Am really surprised that a live version has had such rave reviews - to me it's very much a 'headphones an...

Re: ABC Glasgow Tonight

Holy crap! - What a fantastic collection of bootlegs all gathered together on your site!! Looks like I'll be well over my ISP's monthly allowance this month but who cares... Have been to a few of the fantastic 91-92 gigs there and thought that they'd remain as mere memories forever. Much respect and...

Re: Oxford Academy

Agreed - great show! Thought they could have started the lightshow a little earlier though. It wasn't until Come Together that the strobes and lasers started getting seriously freaky. Highlights for me were TMTTOS, LAGWASFIS and LCYHM. I actually got the last of the cool canula Tshirts in large - th...

Re: Spz DVDS?

I was at the gig and I still think it wasn't the greatest - I've seen all the bands from that night play much better on other occasions. Maybe it was just because I could only get seats in the circle and not among the crowd on the ground that I just didn't connect with it as much as I normally do bu...

Re: Spz DVDS?

If you live in the UK then pop along to Poundland - they've got the Hoping DVD for ..erm.. one pound!! This is the Reading store as of last week, but I guess they'll have much the same stock all over the country. It wasn't the greatest of gigs I thought, but worth having for a quid (particularly sin...
