Rocket Girl: Vinita Joshi's Favourite Albums

Spacemen 3 – Sound Of Confusion I grew up in Rugby, and Spacemen 3 were a Rugby band. I saw them in the Blitz Club – a scuzzy old pub with an old man with a dog. Not many people were there, but they had a really good light show. A French journalist once asked me, ‘Do you think you like drone music b...

Re: J Spaceman – JUNK (visual history of Spacemen 3)

I don't recall the quotation cited above about Spacemen 3 being "immoral and illegal" but it sounds like his extremely dry sense of humor to me. Sometimes I think this is the aspect of Jason that has been most misunderstood over the years. One thing that struck me about Will Carruthers' b...

love this release. I've had a bit of a rummage through the forums and can't find a mention of the Jugando con Fueg o album of Kember/Pierce covers. It's 16 covers by Latin American bands and it's free on Bandcamp. https://pleromadiscos.bandcamp.com/album/jugando-con-fuego-2013 https://f4.bcbits.com/...

Happy Birthday to them. This is quite funny - "With genius perversity, Mudhoney began their set with a cover of Spacemen 3's junk-dazed "When Tomorrow Hits." (Perfect timing, as November 19 was Jason Pierce and Pete Kember's birthdays.) That's how confident Arm, guitarist Steve Turner...

Jason sings / sampled on Dumb Angel by Department

"Department’s debut album Dumb Angel, self-released in September, builds on that epiphany with a maximalist collage that sometimes sounds like an unlikely all-star jam in an alternate universe. On “Dreams of Youth,” vocals from multiple Ariana Grande songs are mixed and matched in a virtual due...
