I traveled from Chicago to see the show Tuesday night. The performance was transcendent. The new songs were taken to another level. So glad I made the trip. Hope someone recorded either this or the Brooklyn show.

Picked up a pair of tickets to see them in LA, can’t wait to see these songs performed live (I know, many of these songs have already been performed live - I saw a few of these in Chicago in 2013 - but I feel these tracks will carry additional weight now)

Not sure if anyone else has seen this - looks like the complete press release, including short descriptions of other songs on the album: http://www.kingstheatre.com/calendar/spiritualized/ I'm solidly on team 'The New Songs Are Great!' Can't wait to see these fleshed out live, hopefully with strings...

Also got tickets to the Thalia Hall show, albeit via Stub Hub. The three Chicago shows sold out instantly. Excited to see Janet Weiss on drums, as well.

When I'm taking a break from Sweet Heart Sweet Light, I've also had on heavy rotation:
Sharon Van Etten - Tramp
Flaming Lips - Heady Fwends (had such low expectations for this, but after a few listens I think it's one of their best albums of the past 15 years)

I love the 'New Album'... their 'Japanese Heavy Rocks' EPs sort of hinted at this new direction, but it's quite a shift from their ambient/drone sound (Flood, Feedbacker) and rock sound (Pink, Akuma No Uta).... I'm really looking forward to their twin albums coming out next month; I've read that the...

To name a few bands that rocked my world this year... Atlas Sound (four CDs worth of material in four days!?), Autolux (their new album is massively underrated), Beach House (probably the most listened-to album of the year), Besnard Lakes, Black Angels, Black Mountain, Brian Eno/David Byrne, Crystal...

Re: Swans - My Father will guide me up a rope to the sky
I've been a fan of Swans since '91; just picked up the new album and it's fantastic. Michael Gira's band The Angels of Light is amazing, as well - just as good if not better than his work with Swans. I've always been partial to the White Light/Love of Life era of Swans, but Children of God gives you...
