Truck Festival

Doesn't seem to have been mentioned elsewhere, but Spiritualized have been announced as headliners for one night at Truck Festival in Steventon (near Abingdon, Oxfordshire) in July. I've been a few times and it is a cracking little festival so would highly recommend (and the rest of the line-up is l...

Re: Primal Scream - New Album Info...

They played a couple of new songs at Festival No. 6 a few weeks back. I am a massive fan - but I wasn't quite sold on them if I'm honest. Shame, because they were on awesome form that night!

...still the only thing better than a new Spz record is a new Scream record, so bring it on!

Re: Sweet Heart Sweet Light

Only just got to my first proper listen-through...not sure what I think really. Undoubtedly some great moments, and has that grower feel where I'm sure more listens will reveal more depth etc, so I'm sure it will go quite a few times over the next few days. A&E was much more immediate for me tho...

Re: Oxford Academy (Zodiac)

I loved it! Stand-outs were (for me) - Hey Jane, Stay With Me, She Kissed Me, Lay Back in the Sun and So Long (which was probably my highlight and seems like such a perfect set closer). Sound could've maybe been a bit louder, but it also meant you got a good mix of everything going on which I prefer...

I shall be there with the Mrs (who got me the tickets for Christmas, awwww). Last Spiritualized show here was great - not exactly packed though, so I don't think you'll have much trouble getting down the front! Really looking forward to it - the setlist from the other night looks immense so should b...

Re: Hey Jane / Album Art (Pitchfork)

Jury is still out on the album cover, but it does look better when "big" compared to the thumbnails from before, and in tandem with the single artwork you can at least see where they are headed with the octagon shape as a theme. LOVE the tune though - sounds a bit weak at low volume, but t...

Re: Royal Albert Hall, October 11th, 2011.

I loved it, but it was a bit "odd" - takes some guts to come out and play a bunch of stuff no-one has heard before in a venue like that. I guess perhaps I had hoped it would more of an "event" gig with the initial announcements of career spanning set etc, but as soon as the Edinb...

Re: Primal Scream to play "Screamadelica" live in full

I'm gonna be well up for this - Screamadelica is one of those life-changing albums for me. Probably the band I've seen most live, and it's only been a few dud shows - most have been great nights, so i've got every hope they'll nail this right. Just worries me slightly that all of my favourite bands ...

One of my fave bands for a long time - "The Charlatans" is an immense album and one of the first I bought as I was getting into music in the mid 90s that had a big effect on me...defo be in my top 10 I would think. From the debut up to "Wonderland", they are all pretty decent and...

Re: RAH LAG Reviews

I thought it was immense! Liked they way they didn't play around with the album too much, just a few embellishments (Elvis bit in middle of LAGWAFIS, THAT ending to Electricity and a few extented endings etc) - just enough surprises without losing the album. Lights were awesome - sound a bit lost at...

Still buzzing. That was something really special I thought. Didn't think it could get much better than my first proper (non festival) show in Oxford last year, but that just blew it away. Great venue, good audience that was (mostly) quiet when they needed to be and just an awesome show. Lots of high...

My first time seeing Spiritualized live "properly" last night (I tried watching them at Reading a few years back, but was such a lightweight I fell asleep at the back of the tent!). I don't think I can construct an expletive/superlative-laden enough sentence to do it justice really. Absolu...

Does anyone know if there were different editions of the CD release of this? The cover image shown in the Admissions section looks amazing with the foil lettering - but is that just a vinyl thing? Were there deluxe/standard CDs perhaps?

Great performance, and with enough of the "essentials" to maybe pique the interest of anyone who liked it...the over-the-top music and the subtlety of the backing singers was a good mix, and a decent indication of the depth of their music. End of the day - its the single, with a vaguely hi...
