relatively new purchase is the new boxset of Y by The Pop Group. bit disappointing to be honest, the remaster of the original album sounds good, but the extras could have easily fitted on one CD and no real revelations there.

there's a new Six Organs of Admittance in February, like every year I hope that MBV might release something. Slowdive are working on a new one I think.

The highlight for me though is 'Mom's Song'. The kind of tune that makes you want to form a band and then jam out said song for 20 minutes, finally walking off stage leaving the audience a gleaming, beaming wreck. this is also rather close to a dream of mine... rather hampered by my spectacular lac...

wasn't say it was a lost classic, but definitely a hidden gem of sorts in terms of the shoegaze scene.
I first came to them from the (excellent) Ride cover of Sight Of You. it's pretty cool when bands cover songs from their contemporaries I think.

had a listen this morning- it's not doing much for me on first listen either. I like that they are changing up their sound a bit (they had to), although you can still tell it's them, its a bit light and fluffy certain bits reminded me of Peaking Lights I do have a feeling they will still crank it up...

okay so I listened a bit more and the album has grown on me.. a bit. 15 Minutes is indeed the Sonic Youth one, the lyrics aren't great on that one however (never their strong point). Eternal Recurrence and Kill Switch are pretty good too. as said above I do think it takes a slump in the second half....

'Clouds of Saint Marie' didn't really do much for me I'm afraid, they seem to be bringing out their inner jangly indie kid on some of these songs, but this one wasn't as convincing as Future Love at all.

There's a podcast here which interviews Mick Houghton, I found it quite enjoyable. I'd say it's unlikely. The band are not really hip and trendy enough at this stage.

Would be great to be proved wrong though. It's definitely their best and most realised album in a number of years.

There's a podcast here which interviews Mick Houghton, I found it quite enjoyable. Only one mention of Jason, near the end. he says that Jason was actually one of the nicest people to work with. the hosts go a bit quiet, almost like they have never heard of Spiritualized before.. http://wordpodcast....

Not wanting to question Jason's artistic choices, but I wonder how much his insistence on playing the entire new album at every gig has impacted on both prior and projected ticket sales? so believe it or not, it's now been 10 months since And Nothing Hurt came out. we are not far off a year since it's release.. and no proper UK tour, no further videos or anything. anyone think it's been weirdly low key?
