Went to see The Delines last night at the Unitarian Church in Liverpool. Utterly phenomenal gig. I can understand why Willy Vlautin rates Amy Boone's voice so highly. thanks all. seems the general advice is "I prefer the earlier stuff!" :) so I will dig deeper into that first.

I will try to get hold of the live album for sure.

for some reason Come Down Safari is almost impossible to get hold of on CD so vinyl seems to be the choice for that.

Thanks for this! some phrases from this review do sound familiar. I think the other review I was thinking of was from earlier on in the LICD tour- so it was when the new lineup debuted, and people were making comparisons to Sean Cook et al. seems kinda weird it was that big a deal now, to be honest....

I was listening to the album at the weekend, didn't find it particularly jazzy though. I suspect that in the live setting they have the capacity to head off in any direction of their choosing. I'd honestly say keep listening- I found this album to be a grower myself. I liked it okay on first listen, but it only really flowered as I kept listening.

the box sets that I really regret not getting are the Velvet Underground ones. I have tried to find affordable ones (particularly of the debut) but to no avail. I guess I am so used to CDs actually decreasing in value as years go by- but this often doesn't apply to boxsets I have these if you want ...

Gutted I never picked up the CD/DVD box of JAMC's 'Stoned & Dethroned'. I got the other five sets with my own cash and as presents but didn't grab S&D.
