That first Maps album was/is great, as were various B sides from that era. However for me they are one of the bands who declined rapidly as I found the second album a big disappointment, plus the gig I saw on that tour was awful. They had gone from a slightly shoegazey guitar band to just him and an...

Re: "And Nothing Hurt" - new Spiritualized® album 2018

https://www.stereogum.com/2012377/spiritualized-and-nothing-hurt-review/franchises/album-of-the-week/ This is well thought out and well written. Recommended reading. Wow this album is getting quite a few rave reviews! Jason is only 4 years younger than Dylan when he did Time Out Of Mind.. That seem...

Re: "And Nothing Hurt" - new Spiritualized® album 2018

well I couldn't resist- although I've still not listened to the stream, had to keep peeking at the board to gauge people's reactions. it's very encouraging to hear that the reception has generally been rapturous! can't wait until Friday now. I shall be intently listening on Friday alongside the lush...

I'm gonna keep it old school, resist the stream and listen properly on release day!.. I've even got the day off work (coincidentally, but a nice coincidence)

so probably gonna duck out of the board for a week or so!...

Re: "And Nothing Hurt" - new Spiritualized® album 2018

the Uncut mag with the Jason interview in it also had I'm Your Man on the covermount CD (I was hoping it would be a different song we hadn't already heard, but alas no!). it did sound a bit better coming properly through the stereo. in some ideal world, there's a version of Sweet Heart Sweet Light w...

Re: "And Nothing Hurt" - new Spiritualized® album 2018

quite liked the Radcliffe & Maconie interview. weirdly it brought memories of the Radcliffe interview (from 1992/3?) which is on the BBC Sessions bootleg- Radcliffe is all chummy and jolly, Jason is monosyllabic. do people know the one I mean? Jason even did the same awkward laugh in this one :) sou...

Re: Teenage Fanclub news...

https://www.teenagefanclub.com/news-1/2018update I really don't know what to say about this. TFC are a band who i have always assumed to be rock solid, best mates and would play until they ALL decided it was time to stop. I said a very similar thing when I heard the news- this is all the more stran...

Re: "And Nothing Hurt" - new Spiritualized® album 2018

I'm dubious about the "£2 million to reform" story myself. I'm sure there has definitely been lucrative offers on the table but I doubt that figure has ever literally been offered. for some reason that figured was mentioned once, and whenever the press ask about Spacemen reunion rumours they go with...

Re: "And Nothing Hurt" - new Spiritualized® album 2018

The Uncut article is great, a very interesting interview. My favourite titbit: J wasn't too bothered about England going out the World Cup in the semis, because he was sick of constantly hearing Three Lions blaring out the pubs on his street    I know how he feels! it says he want to...
