I've still got my original VHS and the DVD from the boxset. I'd have to check, but I seem to recall it's 'Deep Freeze' right at the end (the hidden track from Urban Hymns) rather than Neon Wilderness

Re: Fav Albums and Stuff: 2021
A pretty good year for music, I reckon. But I wouldn't say there's one album that really JUMPS out at me as my soundtrack of the year, or a true classic. Having said that, the below are the albums I've enjoyed most this year. Interesting that there's not a lot of crossover between the lists here. My...

Re: Carlton Melton: Out to Sea
I have an original copy of the CDR. The sound is very, very good to my ears. It is obviously a primitive recording, but then so are a lot of the early CM albums. The sound is very powerful. Some of the keyboard drones are verging on being thunderous. I quite like the voices that crop up from time t...

I actually quite liked Death Song. it was solid and an obvious harking back to those first 2 classic albums right down to the sleeve, but with a couple of new ideas as well. But really it's those first two that get the regular plays.

I have that Jah Wobble album on the 'to listen to' list. Short review after further listening: I'm glad I didn't pay £44 for it. :D listened to the preview track of this (Poptones), and although it was quite a good retool of the song it wasn't really that dubby. I'll check out the rest regardless. ...

I also thought that a new Loop album perhaps wasn't happening.
It's funny, the press release talks about taking the band in a new direction but to me this just sounds like Loop business as usual! perhaps the rest of the album will be a bit more different.

Wish more bands would cover Spiritualized. The chord sequences are quite simple and repetitive, I reckon there's a lot of room for interpretation (bit like covering Dylan)

Re: What Are You Listening To Now?
Yep bdrmm are good. Nothing incredible (i think they've possibly received a bit too much hype for what they are) but solid debut album from a band so young. They just released a new single too. https://youtu.be/5rH4hXuAX1g Another new band on Sonic Cathedral are Mildred Maude. Little bit noisier tha...

Re: Spacemen Pod
forgot to say how much I enjoyed the latest episode. Covering Walking With Jesus is quite an undertaking. Like many here I have umpteen versions of this song. When you said the Spiritualized versions arrangements are often more dynamic (good or bad thing depending on your point of view) it brought t...

Re: *** Spaceman Reissue Program ***
those quality issues really suck. really not sure whether to shell out for these now. also thanks for confirming the Complete Works were never on vinyl. makes sense. I just checked and Royal Albert Hall was on vinyl (2xLP) a version at the time and then a Plain reissue couple of years back. on vinyl...

Re: *** Spaceman Reissue Program ***
I hope a volume 2 will contain the 1997 Royal Albert Hall show and maybe The Complete Works series on vinyl. Or at least a singles compilation of some kind. I'm guessing not RAH as this does seem to be concentrating on studio albums. Would be curious on what the alternate sleeve for that would be m...

preorders are up on the site. Oct 22nd. and the 'Step 8' T shirt is back! :D :D :D I have to confess - before this reissue program was launched the new management contacted us mods and asked if there was any old t-shirt designs we would like to see again. I mentioned this one. Did the original look...

Re: Aquarium Drunkard Interview / New Album
Wow okay, in which case I don't know how he makes ends meet, he lives in one of the most expensive cities on Earth. Wouldnt begrudge the band licensing songs for movies or adverts tbh, whatever it takes to keep going these days isn't it. Maybe the big dates with the orchestras and stuff lose money, ...

Re: *** Spaceman Reissue Program ***
The black version too then? This kinda sucks. Maybe if i wait a bit a second pressing may turn out better? Clutching at straws here.. Yeah that Dr John video footage was really cool and bit of a tease. We'll never see a proper documentary or release I'm sure. When was the last time the band did a do...
