Ullswater and Negative Energy are brilliant songs, loving the album tbh, best thing they`ve done I think and a pretty straightforward progression in their development to my ears, I`ll be surprised if its not one off my fave albums come the yr end, put it beside BRMC and Carlton...

Tickets for Mercury Rev in April, acoustic and intimate, doing Deserters Songs, this will be intimate, its in a local Stirling venue that I reckon holds about 200, previously seen The Twilight Sad and Mogwai there, nice little venue.

Last gig of the yr for me was last Sat, Mogwai supported by Ride at the relatively new Glasgow Hydro enormo-dome. Mogwai`s biggest Scottish show to date apparently, it wasn`t sold out, in fact there were quite a few seats empty but the main hall floor was heaving so maybe 5/6000? Made no difference ...

Wasn`t a massive fan by any stretch but I did buy New Day Rising and loved it most of that yr, much to my fathers annoyance I seem to remember, still think its a great album, sad news. As I get older myself 56 seems like no age at all ... love that cover of Eight Miles High.

A few tracks that Ashcroft blocked from the box set are now on YouTube. Anyone know what the beef is between Ashcroft and mojo magazine? Listened to them yesterday, not enough to make any judgement mind, but they all seem quite jam based work outs and works in progress rather than finished articles...

QOTSA can go get f#cked after deciding to play The Usher Hall, great if you got a ticket, shame it only holds 2500, the latest single sound pretty naff anyway. just to play devils advocate, surely it's a good thing that QOTSA are playing venues that size. The Autumn/Winter is looking good so far, after LPF it`s War On Drugs, Micheal Head & The Red Telephone Band & BRMC and maybe Mogwai/Ride in Dec, bit far away yet, QOTSA can go get f#cked after deciding to play The Usher Hall, great if you got a ticket, shame it only holds 2500, the latest single so...

Cheers Jon, quick check of the calendar has BRMC the night before, I`ll be at that, hmm?? Two gigs in two nights will need to see about that, can`t hang about either, pretty sure GSYBE was sold out last time they played here at the same venue, Friday night as well.

According to Songkick Bardo Pond are only playing 3 UK shows, Transformer, Bristol and London, shame, felt a little frisson there I might have saw them in Glasgow, would have payed the £30 for them and GSYBE, but not GSYBE alone.

Forest Swords - Panic, starts kinda fractured but when it all come together, man. When the bass kicks in at 1.20 and 3.45. that`s quite a sound as well, great track.
