Re: Very early Spacemen recordings
Ah right I see. I don't think he will mind, its pretty easy to work out seeing the pic is his old bedroom...! Figured he should get the credit, having kept the tapes safe so long. Lots of other great stuff on his youtube too. Cogs, Push, Electrahead….definitely worth checking out.

Pete Bassman - new album lost in space
Anyone else got this? Listening to it now and it is really rather good- mainly instrumental blissed out electronica. Definitely worth a listen...

Re: Sonic Boom live - Coventry
To be honest I've given up on any new actual material (I've asked him the same questions in the past and he always (charmingly / resignedly) gives the same vague answers) ... was thinking more about actual touring dates with full band - i.e. is this solo show possible pointer that full-band Spectru...

Re: Sonic Boom live - Coventry
Sorry missed this.... Pete Bain and Tim Morris were both there. Yes, I asked a question in the Q and A regarding future Spectrum releases. Pete was a bit cagey and alluded to some issues with difficulties with the rights. I assume this is with Spaceage but he didn't go into the detail. He said he wa...

Re: Sonic Boom live - Coventry
Anyone else go to this? Really enjoyed it- it was a solo set like he was doing a few years back, starting with Walking & Falling, and ending with The End. Two instrumental (maybe improvised?) long pieces in the middle. Good turn out (although v small room), with a couple of ex spacemen in attend...

Re: Will Carruthers: Book of Jobs
As noted by the comments above, the book has been put together really beautifully and hours (days?) have clearly been spent on each one. From what I have read so far Will can tell a story too- he is particularly good (perhaps not surprisingly given his experience) on the exploitation of bands by the...

Re: spacemen 3 playing coachella rumour?
I think an alternate template would be the Can reunion show. Czukay, Karoli, Liebezeit, Schmidt all took part but each played separate sets (and never all together). So the Spacemen 3 reunion show would be a bill of Spectrum, Spiritualized, Freelovebabies, The Darkside and/or Alphastone. I have to ...

Re: spacemen 3 playing coachella rumour?
I think people would be surprised in the level of interest in a re-union even though at the moment we all accept it's about as likely as Jason's next spz album being a collection of Spectrum covers. A hell of a lot of current bands would sound a lot different (or even wouldn't exist) without S3 (BJM...

Re: spacemen 3 playing coachella rumour?
From that interview I think we can safely assume this is the very last word on any reunion. I doubt it..... I kind of feel sorry for Jason, he has always been quite clear that as far as he was concerned S3 was over forever right since 1990 and yet here we are 20 years later debating. The reality is...

Re: Ltd Wooden Shjips Sp3 cover 7" in the pipeline!
hi chaps, just to say thanks for the thumbs up on the single- it came and went in an afternoon literally! just wanted to say that, forgetting the label for a sec, i do this ( especially the spacemen stuff) as a huge fan so i was kind of disappointed that i'd led a couple of you into thinking it was...

Yes, certainly sounds familiar. On the subject not sure if people have discussed this one before but check out "lonely weekend" by the remains, and see if it reminds you of anything..... from Monday morning to Friday night....... from Friday night to Sunday morn.....! http://www.youtube.co...

Re: Ltd Wooden Shjips Sp3 cover 7" in the pipeline!
Hi all Awaiting my copy but can I take it from the above comment that "Big City" is actually "Hypnobeat" (aka What I Needed You to Be) from How The Blues.....? I suspected it might be, but was hoping it was a different take of Big City. Would still buy the 7" for Wooden Schi...
Re: WAR SUCKS
Yep, I agree. Like you say, all personal taste, but it has that pysch edge that J doesn't appear to want to go for anymore. With War Sucks being a Red Crayola cover, had me thinking of the way the Transparent Radiation EP was two halves, one chilled out and then one heavy. This is a bit like that to...

Re: Electric Saz and Sitar
I believe that'd be the holy grail you're after.... Not aware of any recordings of the legendary indian summer shows you are referring to, but if anyone is aware of any recordings I too would be up for a trade.... I believe there is a recording in existence of the "freeform freakout" night...

Re: Leamington Spa Assembly gig 08\05\09
I have to agree with all of the posters, really good gig, awesome sound... Think I'm In Love was a highlight for me, along with WWJ which was as close to how the Spacemen 3 played it on Perfect Presciption as I have heard Spiritualized do. Great to hear Take Your Time and Lay Back in the Sun soundin...
Re: WAR SUCKS
By the way in answer to what Pete Bain is doing now as queried above, he is in a band called the Urgz and (I believe) putting together a new Alpha Stone set. I have seen the Urgz play a few times around Rugby and they are really good. They do a great version of Primitive by the Groupies as well as s...
Re: WAR SUCKS
Its only two dollars difference ordering it from the states. If you wait for Spaceage to bring it out you could be waiting some time. They have advertised it on their email update, but dont mention it coming out here as well. Just checked out Razzle Dazzle Mind. Was pretty pleased when I heard War S...

Re: Torrent: Spectrum 22 Sept 2007
I appreciate this is a long shot being somewhat late in the day, but if anyone has a copy of this gig, (or one with a similar set) if they are able to upload it that would be much appreciated. I am trying to get a full recording of one of these 2007/ 08 solo sonic shows but proving difficult. Lots o...

Re: 26 miles from Rugby...
I don't know why it is that Rugby gets such bad press. I appreciate it is my home town so I am biased, but it is only a small little town, and I think it has a certain charm. Sure Berwicks and the market record stall are gone but Rugby was never the place to go to get music. We always used to jump o...
