The Who 30Years of Maximum r n b is a fine example. For me that is like a template of how to make something really worthwhile. I can't think of any others worth mentioning, but then I only have a few.

No pic but I can assure you that I still have my stub for "proper gig #1": the stranglers, wemeley arena, november 3rd, 1986. I also have the bootleg tape complete with Keith Allen s routine as Jery Arkwright (an industrial gay) immediately prior to the main act.

This was pretty much my view of this gig ...
And i hadn't seen Acoustic Mainlines ... so was completely unprepared. The ripple that goes through the crowd at the 5min segue is exactly what i remember and ... brings it back. One of THE moments.

I think the Oxford 1991 footage that emerged a while ago is ... In a different league. I have expanded on that elsewhere. But would add that the intangible aspects, many of them, are present and correct for me in that recording. I find it difficult to think of a similar instance of a live recording ...

I found a Chris Barber Live At Birmingham Town Hall record for a few quid. Had to buy it just for the cover and its historical aura... Have since brought more Chris Barber stuff for a quid a disc. I will start taking punts on the rest of the stuff in that one pound box. They are really nice records....
