Re: L&G - Vinyl Me, Please - artist-approved LP reissue

I also got my copy today and pretty impressed with it. Lovely packaging and nice bit of vinyl. I'm only a couple of songs in but I think it sounds a marked improvement to the Plain release. I always thought the Plain issue sounded a bit flat and my first listen to that copy was an anti-climax. I'm m...

Re: What Are You Listening To Now?

Hi, yes, I am in the Norwich area. Out towards the coast but have worked in Norwich since moving in '09 and spend a lot of time in the City. And, Paul, yes, Soundclash. Sold it to me when I found out they stocked Mississippi Records (...in East Anglia?!). I've only been here for 10 years though. Kel...

Re: What gigs have you got coming up?

So, maybe we need a 'What gigs were you supposed to attend but have now been postponed?' a bit depressing? For me, Nick Cave in London in May has been postponed. Pretty gutted as it would be great but also my Wife and I were having our first night away without Kids to head off to see it. Never-mind,...

Re: What Are You Listening To Now?

What with working from home and looking after Kids for the last week, my music listening is till best done on a Saturday night when they are all in bed. I mean I listen to music pretty much all day from the radio and when walking the dog but tonight is probably the only time I get to stick the turnt...

Re: OK Computer - 20th Anniverary Edition w/3 unreleased tra

Yep, I guess so, not technically ltd. Still, when they start including actual recorded tape (however small) it kind of feels to me to be a ltd release. You can't say they aren't beautifully done though. It looks great. The only ltd/special release I'm not keen on is King Of The Limbs.

Re: OK Computer - 20th Anniverary Edition w/3 unreleased tra

I usually shell out on the ltd edition packages but I will be giving this one a miss. I think that at £100 it is just a bit steep. The 3 LP set is what I will go for. At £23 that seems reasonable. I have never paid £100 for any release, so I'm not sure what they would have to have included to make m...

We're all off to Florida on Thursday to be dragged around the parks by our Kids for two weeks. Obviously, I'll need Rapid-time to relax so looking forward to stocking up on your US beers. Going to take note of some of the suggestions here as a start. Any further suggestions I should look out for?

Re: New turntable and record collecting in general

Thanks for the advice. I can't knock Rega and it has served me well over the years but I couldn't help wonder at how much better the sound would be. Pricewise, there wouldn't be much difference between the inspire upgrade, new tonearm and cartridge than it would be for a new RP6 or Clearaudio Concep...

Re: Spiritualized Lazer Guided Melodies 25th Anniversary ...

Time flies doesn't it? I remember seeking out my copy after purchasing Pure Phase when I read about the Spaceman in the NME. Managed to find the Chain With No Name issue with the 7" and I'm pretty sure that I paid £12 for it from Revolution Records in Windsor. Finding the band at this time of my lif...

I've been looking to upgrade my system starting with the turntable. I have an older Planar 3 at the moment but I've been looking at the newer P3 as well as the RP6 or the Clearaudio but as yet I haven't visited a store or tried a demo. It's ok Spzretent I've been juggling the numbers and I think I've found a solution. Apparently because of the natural barrier of the Rio Grande the wall only needs to be 1000 miles. Yes, exactly, a weight off your mind, right? So, by your figures, that is a cost of $2,000,000,000,000. Yes, all looki...

Damn right he will be hated and so he should be. His opinions, stated intentions and actions from the election and, to date, from his inauguration, show exactly why he should be hated. You get fear and hatred because that was all Trump preached over the last 18 months. He played on the fear and hatred to get the votes. The astonishing part in all this is that he succeeded. I'm embarrassed for those that voted for him. They can only be delusional if they think he'll work for them. ...

Yep steep handling charge especially considering how much you owed. Legalised extortion even. It will make quite a difference if it becomes the norm. A nice little money spinner for the Post Office. Fallout from brexit is going to be like death from a thousand cuts.

Re: Brexit and record buying

Not quite sure where they got £11.27 charge from as the duty rate on CDs is 0%. Even if duty was chargeable then it would have been around 4% (very little goods are over this). You likely have been charged import VAT but this would've been 20% of the value declared $25(?) and the postage. The amount...
