Re: What gigs have you just been to?
Chemical Brothers - holy shit was that amazing. Hadn't seen them for nearly 25 years. Out of this world gig. Incredible visuals and the sound was top shelf. Wasn't even high. Michael Rother - night after Chemical Brothers. It was great. He really is a very special guitar player. Loved every minute o...

Re: 2023: music overview
not sure of my album of the year, as usual I am not so great at keeping up with the new stuff compared to many. i think most of the new stuff i have enjoyed I've already mentioned in other threads. I reckon by gig of the year was probably Gang of Four. I do like to check out the end of year lists a...

Oh man that headless guitar! Fucking gross! I saw Lou live twice. The first time was in 2000 at a festival. He played the same time as the Cure and I rushed over to catch his set on the 2nd stage because the Cure weren’t great. Lou’s band were really tight and he played some new songs from Ecstasy a...

European Sons debut album has just been released to streaming services. The Free/Slope fella is involved. I think the vinyl has been put out by Coop which is a supermarket chain in Sweden and Denmark. Good on them I suppose.
Some great 80s synth and drum machine sounds on it.

Been on a bit of a synth kick lately Krautrock loveliness - Got a bit of a fake schtick going on about East German music and a whole back story, but it is very good and I find it very enjoyable, Kosmischer Laufer's new one (the last song is the best one!) https://kosmischerlaufer.bandcamp.com/album/...

Really enjoying this one, some Allman Brother vibes, plus I’m a sucker for pedal steel guitar. Some great psychedelic solos as usual as well. Just a pleasure to listen to really. If you’re a pedal steel aficionado definitely check our Jeff Silverstein’s stuff as it features RCB’s pedal steel man Ba...

Give this a try, the last song, Masters of Earth. 19 minutes of pure proggy Floydy joy. https://ampacity.bandcamp.com/album/encounter-one
I always think of this song when trying out new headphones. I’ve always been so impressed by the sound of the kit and use it as a bit of a reference.
Cheers

Hi everyone I’ve been looking here for a few years now for new bands and I’m happy to save I’m found loads of new tunes. Most recently Free/Slope. So thanks for that. Time for the senseless self promotion: I’ve got a solo instrumental guitar project that I think people here might enjoy. It’s a bit l...
