The first E.A,R. record I ever bought, probably in Sister Ray on Berwick Street? Yeah, depends on if you enjoy the sound of the drone/feedback/noise/etc for a good 30 minutues - I'd describe most E.A.R. as mellow noise. Me? I love it! But certainly not for everyone :) There are probably extracts on ...

The special hand-crafted edition sold out straight away or not long after, but the normal paperback edition is easily available on Amazon, eBay, etc - and cheap as chips - unlike the Erik Morse book which has been stupidly expensive for years. https://www.amazon.com/Playing-Bass-Three-Left-Hands/dp/...

Aside from possibly having one of the worst LP covers in history, the live double album 'Take No Prisoners' is (in my view) Lou Reed's best recording from the 1970s. It's Lou completely at ease in what sounds like a tiny venue somewhere in NY, and he's clearly playing to a home crowd. There's more r...

I'm not a fan so much of the reunion now. It was when a friend pointed out that people were clapping along to Heroin that it really hit most. Re: Spacemen 3 live Den Haag 1985

Thanks for the upgrade Laz69. I'm really digging this live set - there's no real bass (like most boots) but the rest of it is incredibly clear sounding, definitely one of the better boots... and quite a show! Very impressive. Love the audience gap where it sound like there's just one person in the a...

Re: Spacemen 3 live Den Haag 1985

If someone can upload mp3's (or better, lossless files) that would be appreciated. I'm 'wrestling' with some piece of crap called 'download helper' and it's just a mess... doesn't appear when it should, then when it appears the 'convert download' option just plain doesn't work. If anyone's using Moz...

I emailed the record label in question a few weeks ago, the dude says it's due out towards the end of the year.

Re: Holmfirth Picturedrome

Edit: Just realised I misread this thread - and the comparisons are between the Chicago gig and this gig (by people who actually attended it) - but only the Chicago gig is confirmed as being recorded.

My mistake... guess I have to find the Chicago gig now!

Re: reissue review

Yeah, that was a bit harsh - although everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Saying that, he clearly isn't a fan of the first album and puts the Performance repress above the other two - interesting considering both Pete and Jason acknowledge they were lashed on skunk for that 'performance' and d...

Re: Oil Pack Catastrophy

Well, I think I'm at a dead end with this now. I can safely remove/refill it - in fact that part isn't actually difficult once you have the right tools, etc... but stuffing it full of cool blue hair gel is only half of what I remember. It doesn't have those big swirly bubbles that I'm sure were in t...
