Happy New Year

Hope 2021 is safer and less scary than 2020 for you all. Beyond wishing a rousing fuck off to 2020 a year so bad that I want to forget everything about it, I hope that everyone has a happy healthy and incredibly dull 2021. The regular excitements/panic attacks of 2020 are too much for a man of my ag...

I don't mind a bit of Prog here and there. I have never managed to get into King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard though. It all sounded like a mess to me. Thankfully, I didn't start buying their LPs as that gets very expensive, very quickly. Some prog i like and have no issue with. What i was tryin...

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard - K.G.: Hmmm. I sometimes get the impression with KGLW (and White Denim tbh) that they see music as some kind of intellectual exercise, 'Look at us, we can try our hand at anything. Ooh we're good aren't we?' I know that goes against the image of a bunch of Auss...

Possibly a bit early in the year to start this thread, but what the hell. This has been an excellent year for comebacks. I'm really impressed by 'Shadow of Fear' the new Cabaret Voltaire LP. OK, it is really a Richard H. Kirk solo LP but it is a really solid set of tracks and a comprehensive return after 26 years. The pressing of the vinyl LP is really stunning as they've gone for a double LP with two tracks per side,...

The Dead Can Dance gigs scheduled for April 2021 have all be postponed until 2022 now. I was supposed to travel over to Dublin for a rescheduled Nick Cave gig next April too. I'm hoping that is postponed again as the thoughts of getting on a plane (let alone a Ryanair flight) don't exactly thrill me.

Re: Soundtrack of our lives.

No idea why I didn't respond to this thread the first time around. 1970s. Music really didn't exist in Ireland before about 1976 really  . There was no legal FM radio and all the pirate stations played horrible MOR rubbish I couldn't listen to. I was given a pocket transistor radio in 1977 for ...

Re: corona-era check in corner

I am still recovering from an operation in February which has really slowed me down. I did get an Ikea delivery of some more Kallax so I built that ...

Re: corona-era check in corner

Keep us posted James. Glad she has turned the corner. This sounds very similar to pneumonia which I had in November. My body is still getting over it. It wiped me out for a good month or more. However if this virus actually shuts down your lungs that is a whole other story. I'm still feeling guilty...
