Re: Live youtube vid- Spiritualized @ Quart Festival Norway 1993

That was amazing, if frustratingly short! I happened to have some nice headphones near by when I watched that video, and was amazed at the sound quality. It was fascinating being able to pick out all the individual instruments, and hear such different early live arrangements. I'd love to be able to ...

"Good Times," which is the last track on side C of Pure Phase , has the most atrocious inner groove distortion I have ever heard throughout about the last 30 seconds of the song. I can't believe the engineer who cut this was ok with that. It sounds terrible. I have tried three copies of t...

Apologies if this has already been covered. Right now I own FUI on vinyl and CD, both bought in excellent used condition many years ago, with the slim card CD case like a miniature version of the LP sleeve - both thankfully with the embossed shiny silver pedal art perfectly intact. I bought the reco...

Re: Hammersmith Sep 18 - what will the set be?

I do see your point. The time lag is likely a factor most writers do not encounter with the majority of the artists they cover. In a way, Jason seems to approach promotional interviews armed with rehearsed, pre-prepared talking points - like a stealthy and softly spoken smart political operator. Thi...

Re: Hammersmith Sep 18 - what will the set be?

pretty much every review or article about the band seems legally obliged to mention that they "formed from ashes of" Spacemen 3 but more importantly, that Sp3 once did an album called 'Taking Drugs to Make Music to Take Drugs To'. was that even a title that the band came up with? wasn't i...

It's a great sounding venue too. House sound is L-Acoustics K2 mains, SB28 subs, plus Arcs WiFo infills and under-balcony fills.

Re: Hammersmith Sep 18 - what will the set be?

Gutted I can’t make it tonight. To all those going have a great night! I’ll be glued to the forum later on to hear a full report. Same here. Really disappointed circumstances are not on my side this time. When I went back to listen to SHSL recently, I realised I must have spent as much time (if not...

Re: "And Nothing Hurt" - new Spiritualized® album 2018

I think lyrically the two songs do share the same meter in several lines, though that changes significantly in those places where Jason increases the syllabic density of certain lines in Let's Dance. The lyrics for Baby I'm Just A Fool are quite strictly in a simple iambic pentameter, and can easily...

Re: "And Nothing Hurt" - new Spiritualized® album 2018

It's great to hear so many other folks similarly well versed in the Spiritualized canon, loving this new album as much as I am right now. I keep starting posts of my own, attempting to capture at least a snippet of analysis and appreciation. Unfortunately I'm finding some especially trying personal ...

Re: "And Nothing Hurt" - new Spiritualized® album 2018

I'm impressed how fast the lyrics appeared on Genius, great work by some unsung hero!

However, surely on Let's Dance the "September girl" line should be "September Gurl" as per the 1974 Big Star track September Gurls?
