Re: What gigs have you got coming up?

mazzy star Well, this is very good news, isn't it? I see they are opening the tour here in Portland on Nov. 3. Last time I saw MS was Nov. 4, 1996! How weird is that? Exactly 17 years (and one day) to the day! i just realized that the tickets they're offering on their crowdsurge site tomorrow are p...

Re: What gigs have you got coming up?

it's been a thankfully slow show-going year for me. i think i've really needed the break. starting in mid-october i have a pretty amazing month-long run to look forward to that is not to be missed- crystal stilts thee oh sees (the option of catching two nights of them in a row- very tempting) my blo...

Re: Nirvana - 'In Utero' 20th Anniversary...

i preordered the 'live and loud' dvd already- i've been hoping for a dvd release of that show since the 'nevermind' reissue came out. my friend and i used to watch his vhs copy of that mtv special over and over. it wasn't replayed on mtv that much so i never taped it myself.

Re: Pixies - EP1

whoa, they compare them to lit in there- pretty harsh. i'm probably not going to bother with this release, not because of reading an unfavorable review, but more because i never bothered with 'trompe le monde' because every time i tried to listen to it i always found it incredibly mediocre (with a f...

Re: What Are You Listening To Now?

Disappears - Guider HOLY HOLY this is fire! Turn it up real loud... has that same slightly punky attitude as Hookworms, those rolling bass lines in the background... these songs just drive and drive. Realllllly digging it. their new one 'era' is streaming on pitchfork advance right now and it's pre...

Re: Dont want to be "that guy" or do I?

i love 'shakey.' i've never read a 700 page book that fast. i think it may've taken me a month or so. unlike most rock biographies it's actually a nice piece of writing. usually your desire to know more about the artist is what pushes you through some really heavy-handed crap, but in 'shakey' the wr...

Re: What Are You Listening To Now?

medicine - to the happy few this is quite good .. sungaze 8) such great news when i heard about that one. even more of a delight when it finally showed up on my doorstep. a lot of grouper lately- 'dragging a dead deer up a hill,' 'the man who died in his boat,' 'way their crept,' 'cover the windows...

Re: Boards Of Canada Vinyl Represses 2013

i hope this trend continues of warp repressing their out of print vinyl titles. i've been hoping they'll reissue the broadcast full-lengths since they repressed all of their grizzly bear vinyl. i just got into boards of canada, so it'll be nice to be able to buy the albums on vinyl and not have to h...

Re: how do you listen to music?

most of my music listening is done through my ipod while i'm commuting. my commute to work can be as long as an hour-and-a-half. i use noise canceling headphones. at home it's usually vinyl- the stereo is in the front room and i'll bring a laptop in there and play records for a few hours if i have a...
