Re: No album until 2008
it still begs the question...what record label will be releasing said album? Absolutely. The collapse of Sanctuary, and all of the resulting mess that likely has to be cleared up before Spaceman can get back in action with releasing stuff, has to be a major factor in the delay here. We should be gr...

This show is superb. The band are really enjoying it thanks to the energy coming from the crowd. I'd loved to have been there. I love the bit where the crowd are humming Ode To Street Hassle , to try and prompt the band to play it. When they start playing the song it's such a beautfiul moment! You ...

Steady on! The Complimentary Medicines stuff was made available in AIFF format too, and was a free download. Only get both if money is absolutely no object. The only thing that the TAANG! version has to recommend it is having all of the tracks on one CD. And anyway, once you've heard one live version of Revolution, you don't really need to hear any more (aside from the Spectrum version that runs into "...

I can't fault the production either as the pair of them did a supreme job which I have trouble finding fault with. The production is perfectly fine, agreed, but the mastering of all CD versions is just plain atrocious. The best sounding version of TPP is the original Glass vinyl. Beyond that, the T...

1) Haven't heard the Big City version so I can't say. 2) None that I can detect anyway. (It's labeled as Honey part 2, by the way) 3) Sonic. I've always placed the Hypnotized stuff with the Playing With Fire era myself, so maybe they would have been more appropriate on that CD than on any 2 CD recur...

Funny, my Glass PP is probably the best quality copy I own. A bit worn by now, of course, but the overall sonic and tonal balance is far more spot-on than any of the others. Still far from perfect, and nowhere near the quality I know can be had from this LP (listen to the versions on Translucent Fla...

My Taang! PP has no silence, and my Fire one has the 2 sequenced as one track (i.e. the album is a 10 tracker when it should be 11). Unfortunately, the warnings about sound quality are very very relevant. Basically, you will not find a PP out there anywhere with optimal sound quality (just compare t...

The Anti-Piracy on CWV1 works by introducing invalid data into the music waveforms which the error correction on domestic CD players can fix, but PCs, having no error-correction, can't. The upshot of this is that the error correction chips on your CD player will be working overtime, so sound quality...

I think I'm in love with Scarlett Johansson. Hands off! She's mine!!! Just hearing "Sometimes" pounding out of a Dolby 5.1 cinema sound system is worth the admission alone, but it is one groovy movie. Back on: I don't think originality is that important really. Half of Sonic's own inspira...

I like MP3s for much the same reasons as Spaceline. Portability is key here, and being able to fit an entire show on a USB memory stick is definitely a plus. As for the sound, again I'm with Spaceline, on any hi-fi you will always notice the difference. Any CD burned from MP3s sounds dull, flat and ...

They weren't bad at all. Heaven's End was a pretty fine LP, Fade Out was cool, A Gilded Eternity was quite good as well but I found it slightly dreary in places. I've always thought LICD was a decent enough album. Some of the more stripped-down radio session versions that are available really allow the songs to shine through, Stop Your Crying can raise goosebumps if heard in the right context. For my money, the songs worth retaining on it are: - On Fire - Do...

The Space Age reissues have generally tended to have better sound quality, but it's really dependent on the original source - in this case, I wouldn't imagine there would be that much of a difference. I only have the SFTRI one so I can't say any more. The Evening of Contemporary Sitar Music is a bea...
