Lastly a supermarket is the last place I'd buy something like decent cognac from. They can only buy from producers who make vast quantities, therefore compromising quality and ruling themselves out of dealing with high quality small scale producers who wouldn't want their bottles sold in such place...

At the request of toomilk, the Edinburgh meeting place is now The Abbey as the other one isn't open. However, my guess is it will be later if there's a gig on at Queens Hall providing the pub hasn't actually closed down for good. So best to check in on both bars if you're heading there soon.

Yes Wetherspoons is a chain and a rather large one. If all of their pubs will sell it isn't clear but the ones that will, which I'm certain will be a majority of, most certainly have at least one 9 gallon barrel. So 72 pints x probably a few hundred barrels = a lot of Bells.

Tried, but wasn't impressed by, some American IPA's at the GBBF last week. That said, I had been in Belgium the previous 4 days so was still on a lambic, geuze, kriek, triple, trappist etc kick. Found some Rogue Chocolate Stout on draught there which was ok. And Germany via France before then. Also....

Shaun, I will be curious to see what you think of the Michigan beers as you seem to like higher abv beers. They dont mess around over here.
