Seems that the girls do the pop thing better than boys. I'm also partial to a few Madonna songs- Ray Of Light, What It Feels Like For A Girl, and the awesome Like A Prayer. Pretty much all of Girls Alouds songs are also insanely catchy and enjoyable.

No i've not heard any studio versions of it, the only ones I know are the 2001/2002 live versions like you say. Hope Axl doesn't shoot himself in the foot by ruining it in the studio. :(
