Re: Steve Mason at the Barbican 1-27-17
Yes I did. It was an absolute, stone cold, 24-carat triumph. It was Steve and his regular band plus three (superb) female backing singers, a string ensemble, harpist and horns. And they had clearly rehearsed it a helluva lot because they synced beautifully. Opened with It's Not Too Beautiful, after ...

I've probably played the series of jazz albums bought as part of that DeAgostini collector series more than anything else this year, but they hardly count as mew music since most are from the 50s and 60s! Low at St George's Church Brighton. Finally got to hear their sublime Christmas album played live, which was just wonderful. Really sent shivers down my neck and will live long in the memory. A friend has let me down and pulled out of coming to see Low's Christmas concert at St George's Church in Brighton on Saturday 3 December. One of the seminal musical works of my life... saw me all through my 20s that record did! I'm guessing J already had the orchestral/choir arrangements for Out of Sight/Oh Happy Day to hand and didn't have time/inclination to produce new ones for other songs.
