Roky Erickson

Anyone going to this http://www.atpfestival.com/newsview/1602111510 ?

Can't decide if it's a must, or an avoid. I'm a huge Elevators fan but fear ot could be a bad idea. Anyone seen him play Elevators songs the last few years? £30 is a pricey one, especially when you don't know how Roky will be.

It seems pretty disappointing. I always like these guys best when they're exploring new (for them) territories. "More Light" was great for that, so I hope this is just a one off and the rest of the album gets a bit weirder. Their last great song for me was Deep Hit Of Morning Sun, totally...

Duet with Sky Ferreira = a pop song. Not sure if it's pop-tastic though. I thought they'd go off on an experimental vibe but obviously not.

Re: New turntable and record collecting in general

So much better than my old USB turntable. I'm a convert.. Hahaha... that's still my record player of choice! ION right? With the occasional new stylus and a record brush, amped through ageing Sony speakers, I think it sounds awesome. Not at all jealous of your awesome-sounding system of course... :...

Re: New turntable and record collecting in general

The Project Debut Carbon is now up and running with the Project Preamp and it's sounding wonderful. Really happy I took the plunge into the world of a proper turntable. First on the platter was the Paris Texas soundtrack and it was full of depth and space and sounds I had never picked up on before....

Re: What Are You Listening To Now?

For those that like it dark, heavy and trippy then there's a new Destruction Unit song on the loose ahead of their next album http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archives/2015/06/destruction_uni_10.html . As always it sounds an unholy messed up racket on first listen but a few more and I'm addicted. I lov...

Re: New turntable and record collecting in general

Speakers sound very decent indeed Olan.

I've never used stands and have always had speakers sitting near the hifi and turntable, never had problems with vibration or feedback, but I'll probably pick up stands at some point in the future.

Re: New turntable and record collecting in general

Snazzy curtains Olan! You get some serious man points for those. Those big speakers are BIG aren't they. What are they and dare I ask how much they were? I'd love something like that but my budget does have to be kept low or else I'd seriously skint myself. The BX2's look tiny next to them don't the...
