gave it a couple of listens yesterday. needs a bit more time to sink in but definitely pretty good so far. it's nothing really new for them- just them doing what they do best really. the bits I liked most at this stage were actually near the end of the album- there's a big crescendo then some gorgeo...

yeah the film projections are a big part of what they do aren't they? if you're a band who basically just sits down on stage and isn't much to look at, you need something extra which is visual- you either go the Spacemen 3 route with strobes or you do something like this. glad you're enjoying it , I...

Saw this yesterday. Another (?) live album from Dead Meadow, but the live footage (which i believe you can buy tickets to stream it) looks amazing! Wow, that does look good Laz. Re: what v i r t u a l gigs do you have coming up?

I'm tempted by the Earthless one too. But I am a bit dubious about how enjoyable this kind of thing would be. I know they are cheaper than a normal gig but I'm still unsure. It is important to try and support bands though. Ride did one a few weeks ago which I didn't go for but apparently was a shamb...

Re: Vinyl beats CD

bit of a red herring, this. the same thing was reported a few months back but the real story is that vinyl has surpassed revenue for CDs, not number of units sold. a record costs much more than a CD obviously. I'm still banging the drum for CDs and I buy both formats depending on various factors. CD...

Re: What Are You Listening To Now?

couple of new things piquing my interest: Mary Lattimore - Silver Ladders. a collaboration with Neil from Slowdive, it's nice and minimalist so you could potentially compare it to Pygmalion. but also, on this song when Neil does his guitar stuff it brings to mind Durutti Column for sure. https://www...

Re: Nox Orae 2019 set rip

Re: What Are You Listening To Now?

New Rocket act GAS. Surely Goat related. From Sweden, similar sound and artwork. Debut 7" available on Rocket Bandcamp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9QdtifbcrY yeah surely Goat related, if not perhaps just members of Goat under a different name. They had Djinn for their jazz stuff and now ...

Re: Carlton Melton: Out to Sea

very nice new tune. nothing new for them (think they might have even used that chord sequence before? ?:) ) but reliably great. with a lot of psych bands, just one or two of their albums can be enough (particularly if their sound is much of a muchness) but for some reason I always find Carlton Melto...

Re: Select Magazine archive (Spiritualized articles)

+1 on the nostalgia trip! Great find - really enjoyed looking back at these. I used to love reading Select and Q... good isn't it? reading an old music magazine really instantly takes you back to an era. it's not just the reviews and articles, even just the adverts and stuff as to what music was ou...
