Re: We can elevate you to a very fine state of mind

I thought it was an odd track to cover. Also thought there was something wrong with Pitchfork crediting S Express as a notable "house music" act. I only remember them from Top of the Pops, rather than R1 Essential Mix or similar. However using guitars for much of the instrumentation really...

Re: Festival 23

Great to see AOS3's return going strong. Growing up they were a local band who killed it at festivals, great lads too. I used to live in Sheffield, would be interested to know where this secret venue was, I can't seem to find much info in those links above. I remember DiY when they were first gettin...

Re: Let It Come Down slow version?

It's just on my old (mechanical HD) iPod, labelled Live Glasgow 98 , if that helps. If I didn't download it directly from this place, it was sent to me via the old familiar sharing network. Currently it's only on my ancient iPod, which has a load of Spz (and other) live material I don't have archive...

Re: the night of....

Starting on Sky Atlantic in a few weeks. That's all I know about it. Watch it - it's fucking great! Also, don't Wikipedia the original British series that it's based on. One of Rebecca Lavoie's fellow podcasters on Crime Writers On... apparently did that - then indicated she'd spoiled herself. I'm ...

Re: Let It Come Down slow version?

yeah this is news to me. I think we would have heard about an alternate version of LICD by now. it's not the sort of album to have an alt mix I don't think. I do think an instrumental version of this album would be pretty cool. some of the B sides of the time were instrumental versions. bit of a la...

Re: the night of....

This is really great! I'm already up to episode 5 and loving it. I only found out about it by chance, from listening to Crime Writers On podcast (Serial and other true crime type stuff). Is it even on TV in the UK? I've just been streaming, and no one I know seems to have seen or even heard of it. I...

Re: Anyone know what Spiritualized are up to?

I agree it would be nice for fans to have a source of current information. Seems very remiss of whoever is managing and/or supporting an active artist, for them not to keep fans engaged in any way. Presumably whoever is funding the recording of the new album would like folks to go buy it, when it ev...

Re: The Stone Roses - new single tonight!

so we're not allowed to be disappointed by a band we hold in high regard? it's just my honest opinion. if this came from Kula Shaker or Cast I'd be taking the piss, so I have to be honest about it. so this was either the best they could come up with. or it was tossed off as a laugh. either is depre...

Re: The Stone Roses - new single tonight!

They've had plenty of time to do better than this since they reformed Exactly - I was watching Made of Stone recently, and had forgotten the comment John Squire made at the press conference about the band reforming immediately after he'd started writing again with Ian Brown. Also the backboard show...
