Best thing about my iPod is that if I just hit play, it starts with the Aliens and plays all their material. Sometimes you just don't need to be bothered to select the band!!

I've got the Clash boot at #2 on this list. It is nowhere near the level that they reach on Kingston Advice, or the 1979 Aragon Ballroom gig to name but two. Having said this, for an NME "best of list" this is not too bad. Totall agree about the Dylan Boot being an all time classic. Half e...

Re: how's yr oil pack?
This thread is turning into top class material for an episode of Grumpy Old Men. The last posts from Runcible and Spzretent nearly made me inhale my tea with laughter...... Sadly, I have to admit a deep seated dislike of the MSP. First there was the 4 REAL stuff in the NME, which I thought was simpl...

Re: Durutti Column - where to start
Cheers for the suggestions, folks, appreciated :D I'll definitely seek out the collection of the first four albums, and on the vinyl front I'll have a proper look for a copy of Vini Reilly at some point! I picked up a backup copy of this on eBay recently for US $40 plus shipping. It included a copy...

Re: Durutti Column - where to start
All the early albums are worth getting, they are all wonderfully packaged and remastered on 'Factory Once'. My absolute favourite is 'LC' the second album, it's superb from start to finish. this is very closely followed by the debut 'The Return Of' which is really minimal (no real drummer, LC might...

Re: Durutti Column - where to start
There is an expert on this message board when it comes to Durutti Column. Olan, where are thou? I hope you're not being sarcastic! OK, all that follows is my opinion only, and is likely to wind up (both of the) other Durutti Column Fans. I would see if Kooky Discs has any copies of the Fo(u)r Facto...

Re: Rare Heads CD through their site
A Koko CD in the paper bag sold for about £120 on Ebay recently... Well that caused some minor panic at my house. I had put my paper bag "somewhere safe" and couldn't find it. Cue much disbelief from my wife, followed by laughter as my searching grew more frantic. Turns out I'ld put it i...

Re: New Mogwai Album
Just checked, it is PIAS licenced to SPUNK, (bought in Melbourne on the day of release) which made me laugh as the CD is a load of WANK sound-wise.James T wrote:Don't know which pressing you got (matador or pias) but the PIAS one sounding absolutely awful and I gave it away.

Re: What Are You Listening To Now?
the Durutti Column must have one of the most voluminous discographys ever, if you count all the reissues, fanclub only discs, compilations etc. how near are you to complete on them Olan? Pretty close. I collected Factory issues from ACR, Joy Division, New Order, The Wake and The Durutti Column reli...

Re: New Mogwai Album
i will agree that Mogwai have never made a truly disappointing album, its just that the first three albums were so great and so different to each other, everything since them seems to have been a variation on a theme. Mr Beast was really mediocre although it did have some great tracks on it. I boug...
