Re: Aquarium Drunkard Interview / New Album

I'd definitely be curious for someone to ask Jason why there was so little UK touring for the last record. Its out of character for them.
Also, if what Jason says in this interview is true, and he's never received a royalty from the records, then touring must be how the band make their income

This doesn't sound encouraging. I've still not gone beyond LGM yet, as there's always other records to buy that are actually brand new to me. Plus all this feedback about quality issues has made me hesitate a little. Could the issues be related to the current bottlenecks going on at pressing plants?...

I Am What I I am...is nearly a great song. Just doesn't seem to go anywhere so it always sounds semi finished to me. Agree with pretty much all that. With a couple of exceptions- I actually rather like Too Late. The smooth strings, and it's actually got a middle eight! This lifts it above the other latter period ballads that can be a bit identikit. Freedom is the overly mawkish one for me. It's forever ruined once...

Re: Electronic Sound magazine with Spiritualized 7"

Yeah 7" in particular seem something that's more about collecting rather than actually playing. Maybe I'm lazy but I can't see myself putting a record on then 3 minutes later getting up to change it. Makes me think of this :) https://thehardtimes.net/culture/7-vinyl-collector-also-fan-of-sittin...

Re: what v i r t u a l gigs do you have coming up?

Nice one ro, there's a Spacemen connection with that one too obviously! I really enjoyed the Six Organs set, it's wet the appetite for the new record. What did you think? It seemed largely improvised but sections sounded like what people gave been describing the new record as. He started with a harm...

Re: *** Spaceman Reissue Program ***

Are the glow in dark shirts washable ?? According to the label - wash at 30, do not tumble dry, do not iron print Hopefully Spiritualized laundry care will become a permanent fixture... next album will come in a washing machine packaging as J completes his domestication  The J Spaceman laundry...

Bit of a thread resurrection here but wasn't sure where else to put it. This video popped up on my YouTube feed, a nice mix of interviews and live footage from the Mary Chain in China

Re: 2021: what are we looking forward to?

totally! I have no issue with the production of ANH at all. as a home recording I think it really benefitted from the time to work on it and get all the elements perfect in the mix where he wanted them. interestingly I think the last Six Organs was also a home recording and although very different m...

Re: Electronic Sound magazine with Spiritualized 7"

I didn't get the 7" (thinking about it, I know I'd never play it!) but did have a read of the interview. thought it was funny that Jason "doesn't' do Zoom interviews!" I can empathise :) nothing majorly new really. good magazine though, great graphic design and seems to cover interest...

Re: 2021: what are we looking forward to?

anyone else looking forward to the new Six Organs of Admittance album? from the previews it's sounding like yet another metamorphasis for his sound, lots of dramatic electric guitars over otherwordly electronics https://recordcratesunited.com/2021/06/09/dancing-with-the-noise-a-conversation-with-ben...

Re: New interview: Coming into phase

Age-wise, LGM was recorded between November 1990-July 1991 according to wikipedia, so Jason would've been 25 at the time. Not quite early 20s, but definitely mid 20s :D I thought the same thing! then I did the maths, I guess I forgot how young Jason was when Sp3 started. agree on Kate's keyboard so...
