Re: Godspeed You Black Emperor ' Luciferian Towers '
gave it a couple of listens yesterday. needs a bit more time to sink in but definitely pretty good so far. it's nothing really new for them- just them doing what they do best really. the bits I liked most at this stage were actually near the end of the album- there's a big crescendo then some gorgeo...

exciting. the general feeling seems to be that it's gonna be some kind of reissues (as well as getting them back on streaming services), as the band have signed with Domino and then new material to follow later in the year Kevin is also doing one of the listening parties which I don't reckon he'd do...

yeah the film projections are a big part of what they do aren't they? if you're a band who basically just sits down on stage and isn't much to look at, you need something extra which is visual- you either go the Spacemen 3 route with strobes or you do something like this. glad you're enjoying it , I...

Saw this yesterday. Another (?) live album from Dead Meadow, but the live footage (which i believe you can buy tickets to stream it) looks amazing! Wow, that does look good Laz. Hope it's better than the last one which overall I found a snoozefest. This. The last couple of G!YBE LPs have received almost zero plays here (other than the four or five plays close after release) compared to the first couple which get played semi-regularly. I wonder will the LGM cd be 4 or 12 tracks? Also, what exactly is Jason 'curating' here? Or do they just mean he has given his blessing to the project? How hands on is his involvement? The description of it sounds promising. It says that field recordings are back in the mix. As much as I liked the fact their recent stuff was very direct and rocking, kinda missed that.

My verdict on the new Mogwai after a couple of listens is less blown away. Re: L&G - Vinyl Me, Please - artist-approved LP reissue
yup, you people are not making it easy for those of us yet to shell out for this! from the reports here it sounds superb. it's a little strange that Spiritualized albums (very much a 'record collectors' kind of band) are quite tricky to source on good vinyl. just imagine a brilliantly remastered ver...

Re: Carlton Melton: Out to Sea
Totally agree with this (though the completist in me still tries to always buy an artists entire catalogue!). Carlton Melton were the band that really got me into modern psych and I can't wait for this one. The band (along with White Manna) were meant to be touring in the UK at the moment but COVID...

Re: what v i r t u a l gigs do you have coming up?
I'm tempted by the Earthless one too. But I am a bit dubious about how enjoyable this kind of thing would be. I know they are cheaper than a normal gig but I'm still unsure. It is important to try and support bands though. Ride did one a few weeks ago which I didn't go for but apparently was a shamb...

Re: Vinyl beats CD
bit of a red herring, this. the same thing was reported a few months back but the real story is that vinyl has surpassed revenue for CDs, not number of units sold. a record costs much more than a CD obviously. I'm still banging the drum for CDs and I buy both formats depending on various factors. CD...

Re: What Are You Listening To Now?
couple of new things piquing my interest: Mary Lattimore - Silver Ladders. a collaboration with Neil from Slowdive, it's nice and minimalist so you could potentially compare it to Pygmalion. but also, on this song when Neil does his guitar stuff it brings to mind Durutti Column for sure. https://www...

Re: Nox Orae 2019 set rip
thanks a lot for ripping this. the video was already a really good for me, so if you've improved it even further that's awesome. might replace my boot of the Portugal 2019 gig as the go to for this tour

New Rocket act GAS. Surely Goat related. From Sweden, similar sound and artwork. Debut 7" available on Rocket Bandcamp. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h9QdtifbcrY yeah surely Goat related, if not perhaps just members of Goat under a different name. They had Djinn for their jazz stuff and now ...

Re: Carlton Melton: Out to Sea
very nice new tune. nothing new for them (think they might have even used that chord sequence before? ?:) ) but reliably great. with a lot of psych bands, just one or two of their albums can be enough (particularly if their sound is much of a muchness) but for some reason I always find Carlton Melto...

Re: Select Magazine archive (Spiritualized articles)
+1 on the nostalgia trip! Great find - really enjoyed looking back at these. I used to love reading Select and Q... good isn't it? reading an old music magazine really instantly takes you back to an era. it's not just the reviews and articles, even just the adverts and stuff as to what music was ou...
