Re: Do you use music streaming? And what are your views?
i always buy records i like, no exceptions ever, however i do download to check out new stuff (and i don't feel guilty about that). spotify makes this process easier though, as most new ("commercial") stuff becomes available and is then just a click away. no need to manage downloaded files...

Re: General opinion on new songs?
i was at the RAH gig and have listened to the recording quite a lot since then. i think this may be the strongest material since LAGWAFIS or at least LICD. let me explain why... :) i have no problem with references to jesus or fire, it was actually the theme of 'wwj' that got me into sp3/spiz in the...

Re: Favourite live albums
One of my favorite Dylan boots, but the sound quality is poor at least on my version. It's my favorite version of Rainyday Women, but it cuts off after just over a minute. Let me know if you have a full version! I'd think there's probably gotta be the whole show in the vault somewhere, since Dylan ...

i was born in 1981 and started out as a beatles fan until I discovered reggae in the 90s... didn't sound like anything my parents did play at home, it had a totally irresistible flowing feeling to it and it certainly changed my world. a couple of years later i heard pure phase as it had just been re...

i was just looking for my copy of this torrent, but it turns out my wife has erased it (!!) to free up some harddrive space... i tried to google for it but i cannot seem to find it anywhere. it seems some of the original content is up on dime, but i would much rather have the whole bag of go...

my absolute favourite would have to be the soundtrack to Kundun by Philip Glass. extraordinary mix of majestic orchestral arrangements including tibetan choirs & instruments with his unmistakable (quite minimalistic) approach. it resembles his soundtrack to Koyaanisqatsi (which has already been ...

lots of good ones have already been suggested, but i cannot help saying: Lee Perry - Upsetters 14 Dub Blackboard Jungle (a/k/a Blackboard Jungle Dub): Black Panta -> V/S Panta Rock -> Khasha Macka maybe one of the few places where a different version/take of the opening track follows as the second t...

i remember having read somewhere that lennon regarded 'working class hero' as essentially identical in content to 'imagine' but much rawer, truer and better as a song... and that he concluded that being that honest does not sell as good as when you coat the same message with sugar :) and, on the dis...

i had to go back to the PP reissue with the lyrics sheet to check the outro lyrics to Feel Like Goin' Home as a comparison (c.f. this thread http://ideensynthese.de/spiritualized/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9619 ), and here they are: Take it down to my soul Lay it back Feel so good Summer sun turns me o...

Re: Pure Phase - The Two Different Mixes
ok, thanks for sorting that one out :D if I understood you correctly, it is the inaccuracy of the tape speed on the analogue tape recorders that is the reason for the running-out-of-sync problem? anyway, PP definitely sounds wonderful on vinyl. and i love that the title track appears two times on th...

Re: Pure Phase - The Two Different Mixes
i may (probably) have misunderstood something, but how can the two mixes run out of sync? i mean, they are two mixes of the same take i suppose? i realize that, for example, two different delays on the drums would make them sound out of sync after a while, but then a delay is not a typical effect to...

Re: Dub reggae spectacular
Blackboard Jungle Dub is probably one of the greatest dub albums ever... Gotta love it :) On a side note, does anybody know anything about the title? I have always guessed it's a nod to the Blackboard Jungle movie (after all, movies usually inspired Perry in the making of album and song titles), but...

I used to hold the Sp3 live version from Spacemen Are Go!/Live In Europe 1989 as my favourite version of LCYHM until LICD came out... I really like the overblown LICD-version as well. It's not that I'm too fond of the overblown arrangement (orchestra and stuff), but more that the feeling of that son...

I have that gig somewhere in the basement... Unfortunately, the tracklist is not entirely correct. The "Feel Like Going Home" part of "All Of My Thoughts" is actually nothing but an extended ending. It seems the original trader mistook this outro for the FLGH-outro, which is actu...
