Best Version of Lay Back In The Sun

Post by jadams501 »

I have 6 versions of Lay Back In The Sun, and currently I'm most digging the instrumental mix. You can really hear the brilliance of the arrangement.

The Electric Mainline EP version is pretty good, too.

Any other favorites?

The live versions from the A&E tour were really really good; I loved the slow build up, then - BAM! we're in.

I like Good Dope/Good Fun. Does that count? From a split single with Mercury Rev, right?

I counted Good Dope/Good Fun, it's the same song.

I actually didn't love the version of the song from the 2008 tour, or at least the performance I heard in New York. I think the song really relies on those brilliant throbbing pulses of shimmering sound, so the arrangement needs to be right. The 2008 band had the power it needed but not quite the finesse.

another vote for electric mainline (with greenpeace as second)

one of the reasons why I was so disappointed with pp - waiting more than a year to get inferior versions of songs you already knew very well.

I always get all the versions mixed up, can never remember which is which.
but I think my favourite is the Electric Mainline EP one.. that's the one with the more pronounced pounding beat right? a bit more droney
