Interesting article. I disagree with many of his conclusions (imho, Ladies & Gents is overrated and LGM/Spacemen are J's best work) but it's well-written and a solid effort on his part.

Hmm... not to sure it even is interesting ,the picking it to bits approach ,it sorta makes it sound like like somebody dissecting some load of old bones or something,
its a much more visceral record/album to me ,and thats how I listen to it,don`t really agree with some of the conclusions either ,

I know now after all the developments over the years that Spiritualized is J Pierce now but back then they were a proper band and this is something I think has got lost in time (or tyme if you like!). The reason I say this is because back and now in 2011 this is Will Caruthers album, if you take his input out of these tracks I don't think they'd stand up in quite the same way they do now. For me it was the soul and the heartbeat.

That's a great point and not something I've really considered but yes, Wil is a massive presence on it and no mistake. Still a firm favourite

for completeness the same guy has done a blog on Fucked Up Inside. Apparently the blog is written the same time the record is played...whatever, think I preferred the LGM one.

Plus - massive faux pas that he admits to not having checked out any Spacemen 3!

as a former bass player I must agree that none of the numerous replacements have been nearly as good as Will is on LGM..
