Postman!!

Post by olan »

The double LP and single arrived this morning. Have given the album a first listen having managed to avoid all streams and bootlegs. So, apart from the songs played at MCR and on the A+E tour this is all new to me. My first impression is very positive. I'm very surprised at how it is mixed, the vocals are front and centre, far more prominant than any of the previous records. The album also, to my ears anyway, has a live room feel, which is great.

The artwork is far better than I had imagined, so all and all it makes for quite a good LP.

I was really hoping the vinyl would have a better mix than the CD but from what you say that doesn't appear to be the case.

Hopefully mine will arrive today too

Typical
My postie normally comes round about eleven in the morning - the other half is usually in then
Today - Royal Mail thought it a good idea to change our delivery to four in the afternoon - no one in!!!
Early rise tomorrow to get down the collection centre before we go out for the day.At least I'll be able to look at it before we go though

To make things worse my white Huh? t-shirt found its way into the tumble drier today and now comes in ( at best ) a medium I reckon.
At least the kids will have a cool shirt to wear when the time comes around I suppose

CD arrived today! Long album, sounding good so far. Nice that Jason's vocal is really prominent too.

Dissapointed with the artwork tho. Strange photo of Jason and not much else. I'd like to know the ideas behind it.

So, are we meant to use Domino for buying in the UK and Fat Possum is for US customers only? If you buy the LP from Amazon, does it still come with the free download? Just trying to work out the best deal.

Well I got all excited when the postman knocked at my door, but I'm now disappointed by the state of the white vinyl :?
A couple of smudges on side A, barely noticeable so not so bad - but the 2nd vinyl is a mess - actually looks worse than it does on these pics (it's not easy taking close ups of white vinyl with a crappy phone camera)

I'll definitely contact Domino to get a replacement, this looks awfully messy.

Now, for a positive, the download code lets you pick between MP3 or WAV :)

in the process of re-arranging my lounge so a turntable can fit in there! i might take it to a friend to check out how it sounds, but otherwise it might not be until some time next week.

saw your post in that other thread - that's all worrying indeed.

I have some white vinyl records that have small imperfections in them like the smudges on yours. I don't think it's uncommon.

Flokie, the smears on your LP are not uncommon. It wont affect play and yours wont be the only LP out there with some color impurities. I honestly wouldn't worry about it.

Mine also have small black ish smudges/flecks in them.
As long as it plays ok - talking about pops , crackles and skips here - and not the mastering issues being discussed on other threads then I'll not be to concerned.
Will hopefully get chance to play the vinyls later - just d/loaded the wavs to burn to disc for car

Still waiting...

Still not listened to the stream, either...

After the negative reviews on sound quality though, not sure I'm looking forward to it as much as I was. Will just have to console myself again with the RAH boot.
