Indeed, terrible news. Great band and a great artist. He will be sadly missed.

Haven't listened much over the past few years, but my older brother was a huge fan so I grew up with their music all the time. Always sad to lose a true pioneer.

My God - I had no idea he was ill. What a tragedy. The guy was younger than me - quite a sobering thought. Sad news indeed.

Truely sad, sad news indeed.

Kinda thought he was getting the better of his illness, but it really is the nastiest of diseases. I hope he didn't suffer too much, and that if he did, he has now found peace. He always struck me as a genuine, peace-loving, inclusive human being, as well as an absolutely kick-ass rapper.

Check Your Head was, for me, the album that was the genesis of my love of hip hop and opened the door to so many genres, from afro-beat to roots reggae. Thanks for that, MCA.

this was very sad news to hear this morning. the beastie boys' music has seen me through a lot of stages of my life. 'ill communication' is a portal back to my best times in high school. my wife and i are fixing brass monkeys to drink on the back porch today while we listen to the beasties.
