I'm also really keen to hear boots of these US shows, and as they seem to be moving back to more intimate venues that should make the sound interesting in contrast to some of the rather optimistically sized places they played in the late 2012 gigs.

The comments about the new band are interesting, but in the context of the lighting rig remarks, it sounds more like a cost control measure as opposed to artistic considerations - after all when Acoustic Mainlines toured America, Doggen was the only artist who crossed the Atlantic with Jason for those gigs.

The LX rig comment was quite surprising - I thought only the likes of U2, Metallica etc would be shipping their lights across the pond. The cost of transport added to the hassle of step-up/down transformers and combined with the ubiquity of relatively common light fx available, makes it hard to imagine why Spz previously would have gone to the bother... Furthermore my best recollection of the Sage gig last year was that the vast majority of lighting variation came from the projections, leaving little scope for a dedicated LX operator to do much. In fact I assumed the projections were a cost-effective means of avoiding carrying a lampie on that leg of the tour ... of course I could be wrong.

Regardless, I look forward to hearing reports and hopefully some boots of the forthcoming US gigs - it'll be interesting to hear how the new songs develop. The best thing I took from this interview is Jason's enthusiasm for his new material, and I very much look forward to that translating into the next Spiritualized record.
I'm like Evel Knievel, I get paid for the attempt. I didn't promise this shit would be good!

Brooklyn Vegan mentions the touring members:

"...new touring members Kid Millions (Oneida) and Brad Truax (currently in Interpol)."

Those videos projections and white sheet had the effect of looking cheap, like a screensaver. Bring back the lasers and lay back in the sun. Thank you.

"Pierce has begun working on songs for a new album."

"His self-effacing manner doesn’t hint at the importance of Ladies & Gentlemen in the world of indie music; it’s considered one of the most influential albums of the ’90s and virtually invented the shoegaze genre."

I'm one who would love to see a reunion... but Spacemen 3's cult value has become such that I'm not sure I could afford to go!

This is pretty cool. I'm not 100% on all the questions as they're on Mexican but you get the idea. He looks like he's having a great time too.

nice one.. he seems really chirpy in this interview!

what do you think the question was where he answered something like " we are probably more alike than we like to admit?"

My first thought was that it was something about Sonic, but that is probably a bit too obvious....

cheers for that Simon, good interview.

Interesting read that one, even if some of it is just the same old nonsense from the writer. Glad J seems to be happy with the way it's moving along.
