The fictional band featured Fred Armisen as a Johnny Rotten-esque punk rocker with one crucial difference: Where Rotten was a public opponent of Thatcher, Rubbish had a schoolboy crush on the Iron Lady, reflected in his increasingly wack music, which reached a nadir with the indefensible ballad “Sweet Iron Lady.”
