'Dostoevsky's dead,' said the citizeness, but somehow not very confidently.

Sadly, had to run an important driving errand this morning before having my coffee.
Happily, this was on the radio and woke me right up.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.

Always nice to hear Irish acts capable of making some noise. I suspect fans of Viet Cong would like Girl Band.

Re: New 'Song Of The Day' Thread
Not sure who made this but much of it is Robert Frank's 1971 footage shot on super 8mm film that includes a lot of the Exile Lp cover photos. For a song on 1975's Black And Blue LP. Pretty great footage though.

Preoccupations - Anxiety, first new material from the renamed Vietcong, suitably post-punk sounding with plenty bottom end, looking forward to hearing new album later in the year.

their new name is a big bland, but at least it's not offensive I guess. I think they're a really good band, the artwork for the new album is also great, proper stylish postpunk minimalism.

Been hitting this superb Jeff Beck debut album hard over the last couple of days. Yup - the time when Rod Stewart was ultra cool.
The question is... What would Led Zeppelin have sounded like without this album - or even just this song?!

Hey Gary have you heard the Preoccupations album yet? I've not had a chance to listen to it yet, I've liked the songs I've heard but still slightly worried thay have smoothed out the rough edges from the Viet Cong album.niamhm wrote:Preoccupations - Anxiety, first new material from the renamed Vietcong, suitably post-punk sounding with plenty bottom end, looking forward to hearing new album later in the year.

Re: New 'Song Of The Day' Thread
hard to believe it`s 3 yr since Rival Dealers but there you go, Burials back,Young Death - if only it was referencing the 2000AD character!! - is kinda slight and skeletal as to be ... well barely there, so why do I keep playing it? Not sure really but it really suits this December/Winter vibe.
Re: New 'Song Of The Day' Thread
Always found January to be a bit depressing, too cold, too long and too dark but one thing you can rely on usually is a flurry of new music to lift your spirits. Desert Mountain Tribe came out with this today, an homage to the rhythm sections hometown of Cologne, nicely kraut-ish it is too.

Lanegan comes up trumps again. The exciting thing for me is 6 of the 10 tracks feature/were co written by the guitarist of Exit Calm. That bodes well as does this track
Re: New 'Song Of The Day' Thread
pretty amazing video/song from the Prefab Messiahs
https://theprefabmessiahs.bandcamp.com/video
Long-time critically acclaimed punkadelic micro-legends THE PREFAB MESSIAHS respond to the current political and social crisis as only they can -- by releasing a new, mind-expanding tune called “The Man Who Killed Reality!”
In anticipation of their forthcoming new album and following up their surprisingly successful ‘Keep Your Stupid Dreams Alive’ EP (Burger/KLYAM), the new Prefab video is a fully animated neo-Sgt. Pepper-ish audio-visual blast of sonic power sure to hit a nerve with all lovers of truth, justice and catchy psychedelic power pop!

Re: New 'Song Of The Day' Thread
1st new track from upcoming White Hills is a suitably ass-kicking, call and response type riff but it`s the, in the main, restrained lead parts that are making it for me, some right nice touches.
