Mogwai - Happy Songs For Happy People vinyl reissue

Post by Shinesalight »

I've seen a couple of these up for sale on eBay but can't find any details on the Internet about it. Does anyone have any more info? I've been looking at picking a copy of this up on vinyl since I first got back into record collecting but they tend to go for silly money so I might just bite the bullet and get a reissue...especially if its an official release and the sound quality is good.

I'd be interested in this too but like you I can't find any details. Rock Action was reissued last year as part of the PIAS anniversary but I don't think Happy Songs was part of that.

Thanks for the tip on the Rock Action reissue. I wasn't aware of that and just found a copy for a reasonable price on eBay. There are only a few vinyl gaps in my Mogwai LP collection now and Happy Songs is one of them. I see a few copies listed on eBay, but I'd like to know if it's an official repress before buying.

Stuart said last year that the reissue of happy songs would be "out soon" but I never checked up on that afterwards. So maybe it is genuine? Usually if it's a boot they make no reference to the label and the ebay listings do say it's on PIAS....

It strikes me as odd that these reissues filter out into the world without any kind of official announcement. Surely a little bit of a push from the band and/or its management would result in good press and more vinyl sales.

Well the Rock Action reissue was announced properly, which is why I found this one odd.

After splashing out for The Warlocks' Phoenix LP earlier in the week, I couldn't resist doing the same when I saw this original copy of Mogwai's "Happy Songs..." going on eBay:-

Anyway, managed to win this yesterday morning for £26+p&p, which I think is the lowest I've seen it go, well since I've been looking for it anyway. This was probably aided by the fact the seller had put an auction end time of 7am on a Sunday (a time that I'm now usually awake by due to my 8 month old son  ).

ah nice one, I'll look forward to that. CODY is one of my favourites and I'm sure they have lots of extra stuff lined up.

I know they did some live shows featuring Young Team in full. as much as I love CODY, that's probably too hushed and samey for that treatment.

Hello everyone,
I've bought a copy of happy songs. And its pretty weird. No sign of reissue, catalohg number is the same as in 2003 copy. Except the barcode is different. Dead wax says ADAM, what is the name of the master. So I think it is official. And the sound quality is pretty good.

Or maybe it is the very last copies of the original press?

Anyway, it's great

If the barcode is different it wouldn't be the last of the original?
