Woodsman - s/t

Post by Hofstadter »

Highly highly recommending this band and their new self-titled album, as well as their first album Rare Forms to everyone on this board. Closest comparison is Follakzoid - there's a lot of really cool stuff in common, especially on the album that just came out (s/t). They break into some more ambient/droney collages at times though. Seriously really into both of their albums - right now I want to posts links to a lot of their songs but I will only post one or two. You can stream both their albums on their bandcamp by the way.

But yeah, these guys really soar. You should check them out. Also, go check out The Vacant Lots in the Warmth's thread, I think they are really really good, super glad he posted about them.

From the new s/t
"Gravelines" http://woodsmanman.bandcamp.com/album/woodsman
"In the End, Remember When?" http://woodsmanman.bandcamp.com/track/i ... ember-when

From the first album
"Serfer" http://woodsmanman.bandcamp.com/track/serfer
"Insects" http://woodsmanman.bandcamp.com/track/insects
"Future Pulls" http://woodsmanman.bandcamp.com/track/future-pulls (This one is fairly different, more characteristic of their early material, very reminiscent of animal collective)

I have Rare Forms. I find it slightly frustrating in that it's just a little patchy, but the good songs are excellent. Stuff like Beat The Heat and Serfer are brilliant. I like the way they rotate around a certain groove and play with it - pretty trippy at times.

I'll check out the sounds from this new one. Ta dude!

Piling on the thumbs up with these guys. I saw them at Austin Psych Fest last year and they were utterly fantastic.
