Verve : Storm In Heaven 3xLP Japanese Reissue

Post by TheWarmth »

Buy this now. I think there are only two left. I saw a seller located in CA on eBay with three today and they sold out in about an hour.

3 x Colored LP Limited Edition. Japanese pressing. This is a reissue that was found in Japanese defunct distributor warehouse from several years ago.

cat # HUT 10 DJRP XLP

This is in a deluxe gatefold jacket containing all the original songs from the album spread out over 3 discs, along with all the B sides and all the unreleased demos from this album. This is probably the most coveted album by Verve fans. Part psychedelic and part space rock.

2. Slide Away
3. Already There
4. Beautiful Mind

Side B
1. The Sun, The Sea
2. Virtual World

2. See You In The Next One(Have a Good Time)
3. Feel

Side D
1. All In the Mind
2. A Man Called Sun
3. No Come Down
4. Gravity Grave (Extended Version)

Side E
1. She’s Superstar (Extended Version)
2. Endless Life
3. One Way To Go

Side F

Ah man that is tempting! Their best album and it'd finally replace the original vinyl I stupidly sold long ago when I needed space and money and had the cd instead. What a dick I was selling it back then. That was the original UK version. This one looks and sounds like a big step up. $77 all in for a UK dweller.

Sold 4 copies in about 8 hours. I will hopefully be getting more. If I can figure out a reasonable way to get these to Runcible maybe he can have them for UK/Europe.
A bunch of triple Lps will be expensive to ship. It may be cheaper for me to fly over
As I said on our page these sound great. Along the same lines as the recent MBV Loveless double LP w/5 bonus tracks. Even though a grey market item it beats the Plain reissue by some margin.

Also to those who ordered them I upgraded the shipping to Priority Mail. Not only will you get them faster but they are insured and trackable. Nice when ebay doesn't dip their fingers into your payments it enables me to do things like this.
They are also double boxed.

I have 10 more coming next week. I can not compete with the person on ebay. He is either the person pressing these or bringing them into the country. Anyway if you are in the US I will upgrade to Priority Mail and double box these. They will also be trackable and insured.
Also available the My Bloody Valentine Loveless 2 Lp white vinyl.

Yes. Same as the initial Slowdive- Blue Day, Souvlaki, Ride- Nowhere, MBV- Loveless 2x LP. Certainly an improvement on the original.

Did you all get your LPs?
Verdict?
Personally I think it is an improvment over the original pressing plus you get the unedited version of She's A Superstar. Not to mention all the b-sides and demos.

I had a friend come up to visit at the weekend. Someone I grew up with around Rugby and a regular party in crime for many gigs over the years.

So it was a good time to open up this exciting new vinyl. It is all great, but we got particularly excited when we reached side F and realised the songs on that last side are demos from a long forgotten cassette tape we had back in the day. (Perhaps a friend of a friend was going out with someone in or connected to the band, I can't remember). We hadn't heard these versions in twenty years I guess, so a real trip down memory lane.

Following that, I made him watch the Spz Oxford Poly gig. Things were quite bleary by the end.

Only briefly listened to it but yes it does sound well to these ears. However according discogs the demos are titled wrongly, can anyone clarify ??

I'd be keen to hear any history behind those demos. Have they been widely circulated before now?

this LP is a bootleg right? if those demos are the ones I am thinking of, they have been circulated before as the 'Wigan demos' and I think there's a couple more songs than appear on this set. they are pretty interesting sounding and sound a bit more jangly and Stone Rosey than the big spacey sound the band soon perfected. they were also pretty hissy- have they been cleaned up at all?

Nick McCabe was talking about reissuing ASIH a while back, but I think it's probably got caught up in red tape. so it's taken a bootlegger to jump in and do it.
if you are nitpicking, it doesn't include all the ASIH era B sides, either!

I'm curious about this. How can it sound better than the original lp when the bootleggers, presumably, didn't have acces to the original mastertapes?
I have an original copy of ASIH on vinyl, and a bit worse for wear as it may be, it sounds vastly superior to the cd, which I assume woulde be the source for this bootleg. Or they must have used a needledrop of an orginal copy.
My point being, it can't sound better than an original copy because of the source.
Having said all that, I can't wait for an official reissue on vinyl!

I always hear how poor that first Hut pressing of ASIH is and my copy doesn't sound great. Nor does A Northern Soul for that matter....

Even without access to master tapes there is still stuff they can do in terms of mastering to make something sound brighter or more dynamic.

My CD of ASIH is a little bit quiet if I am nitpicking, I usually have to crank it up quite a bit, then The Sun The Sea comes blasting out....

It must be annoying that such classic albums aren't widely available on vinyl.

This is a very Beautiful set; the discs and jacket clearly identify Nippon Grammophone as the manufacturer; but the record labels appear to be German or maybe Dutch; I needed more light!
Anyway, the discs look great and have that "wax" look. Very Nice.
