I need some help and recommendations here!
I will be travelling to the US on Saturday on a three-week trip which will include a road-trip from Pittsburgh to New York, probably via Washington and Philadelphia and possibly other nearby cities. This is my first visit to this part of the US and I would be very happy for any recommendations on good record stores to visit in these cities or along this route?
I will have most time to spend hunting in Pittsburg and New York, but all recommendations are extremely welcome! After a recent visit to Copenhagen I was surprised to see that more or less all of my favourite record shops in the city center had closed down over the last few years, but surely this region of the US must have some good things to offer still?

You def wanna hit The Sound Library in NYC.
The Turntable Lab is also worth checking out.
They're tons of little nooks between Alphabet City and The Village.

Without exaggerating, Double Decker Records in Allentown might be one of the best in the Mid-Atlantic region, considering price and variety. It's my go-to in the state.

Other stores might charge $8-$10 for the same album at Double Decker for $1-$3. And in worse condition.
In fact, several store owners in the PA and NJ area come to DD to stock up for their stores. I don't blame them.
I picked up Atom Heart Mother in strong VG+/VG+ condition recently for $5. Most shops would slap $20 or more on that.
It's off I-78 which comes from Harrisburg into NJ. PA Route 80 traverses the state, but you'd have to take Rt. 33 South to Allentown.
Seriously... it's worth the trip.

Thanks a lot for this!

If you do drive along Rt. 80, there's a good shop in Stroudsburg called Main St. Jukebox.
I know the owner, Tom, since he had a buzz cut and was clean-shaven in the mid-90s.

I would avoid Play It Again in Bethelehem. Compact Disc Center (also in Bethlehem) is good, but if you have limited time, Double Decker is the one to hit.
Did I mention the 50 cent room? I've scored decent stuff in there, some of it worth some money.
But the main thing is finding gems you really are seeking.
