Re: Goat: Hide From The Sun (Glastonbury 2015)
The Fall followed by Goat was a pretty excellent way to spend a couple of hours. I thought Goat were absolutely excellent, which somewhat restored my faith in them after a horrible gig at the Psyche Fest last year.....
Re: Goat: Hide From The Sun (Glastonbury 2015)
Thoroughly enjoyed their set even though they didn't play the closer i wanted to hear. New single sounded good too.

Album #3 coming soon? I didn't get into the second one much. I was a big fan of the first one, but haven't listened to them in a long time. Anyone heard the new single yet?

Re: Goat: Hide From The Sun (Glastonbury 2015)
the trouble with Goat was that the first album was almost too good- it totally perfected their sound and it's hard to see where they go from there! apart from the same thing with diminishing returns.

Totally agree. I listened to the new single and didn't feel compelled to rush to purchase it.angelsighs wrote:the trouble with Goat was that the first album was almost too good- it totally perfected their sound and it's hard to see where they go from there! apart from the same thing with diminishing returns.

Sweeeeeeeet! I'm up for the London gig but it does fall the day after Angel Olsen at Koko for me, which means late nights, travelling back to Essex, up early again for work. But it is Goat! Saw them at Field Day on the weekend and they were really good.angelsighs wrote:Goat have announced more tour dates.

Watched the at the weekend at Effenaar at Eindhoven Psych Lab and was far better than when they played Liverpool and even had new material.

Re: Goat: Hide From The Sun (Glastonbury 2015)
what would be my chances of a place to crash if I wanted to attend?
it's a corking lineup and I like the venue too.

Between me and Gaz I reckon we can sort something mate. I can get some elder children to stay at friends or if not Gaz would be fine putting you up
Re: Goat: Hide From The Sun (Glastonbury 2015)
If not, you can stay at mine Jon.

thanks both- very generous. whatever will cause the least disruption I guess, will drop some PMs!
Re: Goat: Hide From The Sun (Glastonbury 2015)
New album http://goat.bandcamp.com/album/requiem on real purty vinyl. Might get the cd though as I'm getting bored with double LP's and all the flipping over.......(first world problems eh).
Re: Goat: Hide From The Sun (Glastonbury 2015)
Describing it as their bucolic folk ritual album, should be interesting
Re: Goat: Hide From The Sun (Glastonbury 2015)
New track https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiyuNes ... e=youtu.be certainly more acoustic sounding but with some 'acid folk' electric guitar snaking through it. Pretty good.

Re: Goat: Hide From The Sun (Glastonbury 2015)
really like the new song. 'acid folk' is an obvious avenue for them to explore after the last album was a bit more on the heavy side.
hope they still play plenty of older songs live though, if it's all stripped down acoustic stuff, won't have the same atmosphere kicking off like before!

I love Goat but they absolutely refuse to progress! Not totally grabbed me yet.
Re: Goat: Hide From The Sun (Glastonbury 2015)
New Seu Sange EP, featuring 1 new track and 4 remixes of Oh Death tunes. Sonic Boom has one and was apparently the first person to ask could he remix something off the album. Being a sad collector i ordered the tape just 'cos of Sonic's contribution https://goat.bandcamp.com/album/seu-sangue-ep

New Goat album 'Medicine' arriving in October. Multiple vinyl versions as usual: https://rocketrecordings.blogspot.com/
First track is pretty good. Thought it sounded a bit indie-psych at first but it worms its way in with a nice stoned groove.

Yeah it's a slightly different sound for them, I am not so sure but maybe need to give it some more listens.
Re: Goat: Hide From The Sun (Glastonbury 2015)
Yeah defo a slight change in that tune, sounds a bit more like that other Swedish psyche band Hills tbh, in fact I noticed one of the tracks on the album is called Join The Resistance which is the name of a track on the recent Swedish psyche album by GAS who have some connections to Hills, could it be a cover? Time will tellsunray wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2023 9:04 pm New Goat album 'Medicine' arriving in October. Multiple vinyl versions as usual: https://rocketrecordings.blogspot.com/

Re: Goat: Hide From The Sun (Glastonbury 2015)
Yep, according to the blurb 'Join The Resistance' is a cover of the GAS track.
The joyous, echo-laden groove of penultimate track ‘Join The Resistance’ bursts into life and continues to build to a moment of release with a huge Sabbath-esque riff. This track, originally released by the Swedish band Gås only last year, was covered for no better reason than because it is “just another take on a really good song”.
